I like it because it's really easy to find information about stuff there, since it's such an easy platform for people to talk about the things in which they're interested. Also it's a good way for people to spread art, especially if they don't care about being credited for it (though obviously it can cause problems with people not properly crediting when credit is wanted).
I don't like that it's not really easy to communicate with people though. And I think it wouldn't be very fun to keep up an active tumblr. Like if I made an art blog I'd feel more pressured to keep posting art than I feel on dA, where I've gone like a year without making art. Not really sure why I'd feel that way though, it doesn't make sense lol
Well assuming you have an account you can reblog, go to people's ask section, or sometimes answer to posts that end with question marks I guess, but I said it's not really easy to communicate with people. It's something I don't like about the site.
I like it. Some of the communities are a bit eh. Social Justice, fandom obsessed, hipsters etc are sort of annoying. But I just avoid all that. I've met some pretty cool people on there. & I don't really get why everyone says it's impersonal, you can talk to people via "fanmail" which is essentially just a PM.
Well, here on dA I mainly post digital drawings. I wouldn't even call them art, just silly doodles. I'm currently learning all the traditional techniques (oil painting for now, and I'm in love with it ) and such and starting abstract art, all on canvas. I love doing portraits too. Unfortunately I don't post my work on canvas or pencil drawings...
