I made one this year and that was to not make a new years resolution.
that way I wouldn't keep it and get tons of shit done!
actually it's been working out pretty good, without having things on my mind like "goals" instead of devoting time to making sure I'm keeping up with them I've been doing a lot more than usual. For instance, I started a painting at new years which I am about to finish.
here is an article I read a while ago about how trying to "think positively" generally leads you into thinking negatively because to think positively you must constantly monitor whether you're having a negative thought, ergo you start thinking negatively. [link]
in other words as a friend posted this quote on facebook earlier today "Having no destination, I am never lost" -Ikkyu
but I digress, setting goals isn't a bad thing, I've accomplished many things by setting goals.
It's illegal for anyone else to homeschool your children [feel free to correct me if you know otherwise; my mom seemed sure, and I don't feel like douoble-checking]. We took online classes for certain things, but as a whole we used workbooks and my mom was our main 'teacher'.
Last year I started college. My first year resolution was to pass, and if possible with good grades, on all my subjects. I don't know how it goes in other places, but here's kind of uncommon for that to happen. Most people have to re-do at least one subject of their first year. And many people do even worse. But I managed to do it, and with good grades! Many times I thought I wouldn't make it, but I did, yay for me.
I also had a resolution to be more social, and I did. After all, I've met almost every people who study the same career as me (we aren't a lot of people, so it's possible).
Unfortunately I didn't lose any weight But I've been more happy than usual about my appearance. I guess that's good.
And I still don't have a boyfriend. -.- But I guess I'll stop making that resolution. It makes me unhappy because to this day it seems it's never going to happen. -.-
This was overall a good year. Did you keep your resolutions?
