It's 7C/45F and rainy right now where I live...in Canada. This is shorts-wearing weather, actually.
'SAD' in theory should affect me year round; I rarely go outside during daylight hours, but as I'm super sensitive to ultraviolet light, my vitamin D levels don't drop. Nor do I get affected by cabin fever - I love solitude as it's great creative time. Winter seems to make me more active than the peak of summer - I feel restless in cold temperatures and super sluggish in hot.
I'm actually looking to gain a dozen pounds this winter, too. Been eating a ton more food (w/ extra helpings of creams, butters, fats) and still stuck at 126lbs. I need that extra weight to keep my stamina going through the day as my metabolism is just wonky.
Freezing temperature, nothing but endless wind and rain and everything looks a dull grey colour all the time..... How is that NOT depressing? It makes me feel depressed, that's for sure. That and I sleep in later. Damn I wish I could hibernate.
Winter is when you sit inside and burn lot or cute tea candles in colorful classes, while drinking hot cocoa with blanket over you . But yeah, I can feel the whole going to winter sleep and feeling the coldness when being outside...

It's disastrous on my mind and soul, the rain and dark clouds are somehow peaceful and depressing at the same time, my temper gets a little shorter, I have to rely on the 1930s oil furnace here, with a faulty thermostat that there are no replacements for to keep me warm, (I still prefer it over tippy, fire-hazard space heaters tho), there are precious few photo opportunities beyond toy cars and still life/diorama pics here, and I have to deal with roof and window leaks that the landlord refuses to fix. I thrive on sunshine, and honestly even snow isn't too bad if it's accompanied by cold clear skies like in some other parts of the US and the rest of the world.
I can't use sunlamps here because the wiring system calls for 130-volt or multi-voltage (120V/130V/220V) industrial lightbulbs and is ungrounded, and the floor is a very uneven plank floor that shelves and lamps are unstable on. so I take a Vitamin-D supplement and NeuroSUN nutritional drinks to help compensate.

Winter usually just makes me feel relaxed and serene, the exception being when I'm trying to walk home it it.
This last year, summer actually made me feel extremely depressed. It used to be my favorite season (which is probably why), and I hope this isn't the case again. My favorite weather, at the moment at least, is a silver sky and storming rain.

Winter is my favourite season, I definitely prefer it to the horrible hot weather in summer. Winter makes me tired and I procrastinate more where my drawings are concerned but other than that it's a very happy season to me.
