Your thought on what a low poly modle should be

For al those modeler out there, when your modeling a character, what would you consider to be low poly? 20,000, 50,000 polys? Just put a amount of poly you should have.

Under 10k is fine with me, I like to try and keep around the 5k mark average though. It depends what you intend to do with the models...

Then again, Mario is a fairly basic character design. They may need more if they are doing something along similar lines to Master Chief or something :XD:

Then again, Mario's smooth, rounded features doe show the signs of low-poly-ness more. Like his hexagonal-looking hat in Super Mario 64 :giggle:

Do you understand 3D modelling at all? 20,000 is NOT low poly. Something like 7000 would be fine.

Why the hell is it that high? It doesn't need to be that high, remove some loops, even Valve work at 10,000 max.
