It's the internet, it makes finding these things easier than it was previously. But it's always existed somewhere in the world. I'm sure during the silent film days there was Rule34 of Charlie Chaplin somewhere.
I do think it's gross having under-age characters depicted in that way though. It exists, but as far as I'm aware it's also very illegal since it's a depiction of a minor whether it's a drawing or a photograph - it's still the same legally.
Well of course its existed before and without the internet. The problem with having such stuff on the web is that anybody can see it unless its on a page that only some people could access - with a password or something. Taking a picture of a random person, editing them into porn, and then uploading it onto the web for everybody to see shouldnt be allowed - but this rule seems to suggest that its an acceptable thing to do.
The rules of the internet aren't really supposed to be taken seriously - and they certainly aren't there to claim such things are acceptable. I think in the case of Rule34 it's not considered acceptable, but the rule makes the claim that it's inevitable that such things exist.
Inevitability based on the amount of people on the internet - I mean look at fandoms. There are massive groups of people that are obsessive fans, that use the internet as an outlet for their interest. Out of that group and based on human nature it's inevitable that some of them would have fantasies (romantic or otherwise) about those characters, and therefore a subset of those might produce or commission artwork depicting those fantasies.
Anyway - I understand what you mean by the rules of the internet arent supposed to be taken seriously. But Im not talking about the rules, Im talking about rule34 art. The common definition of 'rule34 art' on the internet is art of porn of any subject. This forum is a good example of how people define r34 art as pornographic images of any subject - [link] Thats what I'm against.

Some of it's amusing, some of it is downright disturbing, like loli art. The people who are into that will always say it's harmless because they're "just cartoons", but to me if you're attracted to a semi-realistic cartoon drawing of a child there's no reason why you wouldn't be attracted to real children.
Yeah - I kinda agree with you... that could be very sick. Rule34 states that "If it exists, there is porn of it". So, as children exist - the rule kinda supports child pornography..? Thats how Ive come to think of it.
Please, you guys really have to stop saying "Welcome to the internet!". Ive been here a while now. Plus, Ive known about this for a while now - but I've only just decided to post a forum of my opinions on it recently.
You didn't need to search for that, and now you're looking to be the Knight in shining armour, but just relax. Everyone that's heard of it already knows about it, and chose whether or not they liked it THEN AND THERE. You don't need to tell anyone about it, and you don't need to lead an enticing little trail for them to follow.
By saying "NO DONT DO THAT, BUT THE LINK IS HERE [link] " is just asking for someone to click on the link.
If you wanted to really stop R34, You'd put "Against R34" in your Signature, and then never mention it. By putting this up, you're only increasing the fanbase for this sort of thing.
Also, many fans of many things sexualise things as they care for them, and would like to show EXACTLY how far they'd go to show the character they love and care for them. While most is Pr0nz, some of it is actually an expression of caring for the character.
Don't underestimate the span of the internet, and of Humanity. We will prevail, and I can likely explain it further should you need it, but you've gotta ask me first.
Why do so many people think that Im gonna put a stop to it? Obviously, Im not powerful enough to stop anything on the internet. Im no 'knight in shining armour', Im just expressing my opinion and saying that I think it is bad. Im not increasing its fanbase either, people can join it if they please - but I personally don't like it.
And... yeah. I really am against the concept of "If it exists, there is porn of it". Because this clearly means that innocent people can be simply photoshopped into porn, and then this porn can be shared all over the world wide web. How is this fair?
"If you wanted to really stop R34, You'd put..." I never said that I did want to stop it, did I? Because, I know that I couldn't. On the internet, I am too weak to stop a fanbase - much like everyone else really.
I dont understand what you meant by :
"NO DONT DO THAT, BUT THE LINK IS HERE [link] " is just asking for someone to click on the link."
