There have been some concerns raised about inappropriate ads popping up on our site. Let me assure all of you that we do not tolerate this on dA. However, these advertisers run on networks and do not deal with us directly so it is a little hard to track them down. If you see an inappropriate ad, please post here with the following information:

1) Your Country
2) Section of Site where you saw the ad
3) Description of ad
4) Screenshot of ad (if possible)

We will deal with this directly and thank you so much!

Just an update to before, here's a screenshot of that ad in action. As before, I'm in the UK, near London.

Saw this ad [link]

I'm in the UK. The ad was in the banner slot below a deviation. It just strobes between "Do not click! not allowed" (Red on White) and "Under 18 Cannot click" (White on Black).

I'm in the USA, and I got this "Firefox blocked a pop-up" message when I cleared the deviations from my devwatch. This has happened before. Should pop-ups be on dA?

Also, for the record, those stupid "Zwinky" ads are really annoying. Don't know if that counts as inapropriate, though xD

Thanks for the link. :)

There is nothing on that page that should have caused an ad popup to occur. As a part of general policy, we do not allow for popups on dA. I will try to replicate this and track down what's going on, however.

On a side note, annoying does not equal inappropriate... it just means they are merely annoying. The unfortunate thing about annoying ads is that you're more likely to remember them... so in a way they're more effective than unobtrusive ads. Although my preference is for a way cool ad that makes you go "WOAH! That's cool!" and you're likely to remember it for that reason... but that's rare. :)

what counts as an inappropriate ad? because i've seen a zwinky one before and thought that was a little strange...
is deviantart only supposed to show art-related ads?
