Would DA kindly keep advertisements out of the Notes section, especially for the non-subscribers?! They take up unnecessary room and that's rather PERSONAL space these bits of internet junk are invading.

I think the point is, if you subscribe then we won't have to subsidize the notes with advertisements. :)

I have noticed that the Flash ads, especially the Adventure Quest ones, seriously slow down the bandwidth DA gives me when I open a lot of tabs... I have to close them all just so I can browse DA without any server timeouts. x.x Do you think DA could ask the Adventure Quest folks to change their ad format?

Feel free to put an ad in the notes section. But it is eminently annoying to put a 300x250 ad unit exactly where the note ought to go. As one who works in online advertising, I can assure you that the returns on that unit will not be much worse if it were a skyscraper along the right side of the page.

It is beginning to look more and more like deviantART is using advertising to force people into subscribing by putting these ads in all the most intrusive places. Not healthy at all, neither for advertiser nor for dA user.

I'm sorry you feel that way about the 300x250 ad unit in the notes section... the feedback is good so we know where the community stands on the creation of new ad zones. We're currently working on a way to better integrate advertising and create a more streamlined user experience.
