I'm writting a FOSS(free open source software) game or the MMO(massively multiplayer online) variety, but I don't have a good storyline or any art(and can't make any myself). So, whoever comes up with the best story becomes the story writer. I'm recruiting artists too. I'm not really accepting programmers just yet, but I will sooner or later. More(or less) information including the message board for volunteering is available at [link]
This seems like the right place to ask. If you have suggestions on other places to ask, please share them.
I'm a pretty good artist myself, however I am young and my vast skills have yet to be completely uncovered. But I do have a comic strip which I draw and write myself. It's earned itself a place in the top 100 on webcomicslist.com. It's called Almost Nothing. The website is down right now but as I said, I'm up for both writing and drawing.
I'll take a shot at a story. I was thinking maybe the story should follow that of my comic, or at least be based on it, which I've spent quite a while writing.
It should focus on a vampire who is the son of Dracula, heir to the throne of the vampires. He, however, becomes a good vampire, and rejects the throne of his father. His father accepts this decision and gives the oppurtunity to his second son. The second son accepts and becomes the new heir. One night he carries out his wish to hurry things along by murdering his father and instantly taking the crown and becoming king of the vampires. The good vampire, who in my comic is named Ian but I could come up with something else, realizes what's happened and decides to take the throne for himself. Meanwhile his brother is using his royal authority to throw the city of vampires, which I will also come up with a name for, into slavery. The whole game would be about the good vampire stopping his evil brother. To do this he must infiltrate his brother's castle and get past his guards. Sprites would be fine for this but if you can do better that would be great. In the end he faces the final boss, his brother, and defeats him, taking the crown, and becoming king.
That's my idea, if you would also like an artist I could draw it too. Let me know what you think of the idea.
You are in the city, doesnt matter which one. you decide to join the military you joun and you develop your basic skills there. Then one day, which should be shortly after you leave boot camp, you get asked into an ofice of your commanding officer, he begins to tell you of this strange and mystical island. on this island there live a people group know as the croonaws. the Croonaws are assembling an army of freak science monsters and evil demons from another dimension. you are told that you must go to that island and develop the skills of these creatures and help ward them off. but be warned the island is full of dungeons, caves, layers, traaps, and many other hazzards.
ok thats an idea i came up with on the spot if you dont like that one then i can write more i got a ton of ideas.

You start off in the city, doesn’t matter which one. you decide to join the military and develop your basic skills there. Then one day, which should be shortly after you leave boot camp, you get asked into an office of your commanding officer, he begins to tell you of this strange and mystical island. on this island there live a people group know as the croonaws. The Croonaws are assembling an army of freak science monsters and evil demons from another dimension. You are told that you must go to that island and develop the skills of these creatures and help ward them off. But be warned the island is full of dungeons, caves, layers, traps, and many other hazards.
As you arrive on the island you hear a large blast. The blast distracts you and somehow you are rendered unconscious. You awaken on a strange ship, you are in chains. You ask the person next to you what is going on , but he only laughs hysterically. You ask around and discover that you are on a Croonaw slave ship.
The Croonaws had begun their assault on the rest of the earth as you got on the island, which was the large blast you vaguely remember. You were captured and made a slave, after two years of slavery you meet a strange young man who appears to be much wiser than his age. As you get to know him he tells you that he is a Master of Magic. Apparently he is fond of you and a bunch of others and agrees to teach you basic magic.
A year or two passes by and your mentor and friend tells you it is time for you to leave. He causes a stir with the guards and tells you to leave as the guards will be distracted. So you lead a group of slaves to safety. Shortly after you get two messages, one message is from the Croonaws offering you a place of power and teachings to enhance your knowledge, but you have to help them hunt down and kill other humans. The other message was from an organization called the F.F.E.C. the Freedom For Earth Commission, their offer is one of nobility; they ask you to come to them for training and developing your skills in magic, while trying to take back the earth for Humanity.
The choice is left up to you, you have two paths to choose from; one good and the other evil. Your decision could affect the whole world, depending on how powerful you become.
Now the multiplayer aspect, each person first learns about the story then is able to make the decision. Then the final training and learning before they can go out into the real world so to speak, and are able to fight for their cause, the two sides will be able to fight openly and each side will consist of actual players. So the whole game is player against player with the occasional npc thrown in.
You've been searching your whole life, looking for a place with some meaning. You're a nomad... You live in one place, then move along after a short time. One day you find a place that entices you to stay, because of the dreams you start having... It seems that somewhere in this desolate futuristic city called Rancia, crowded with wanderers, thugs, and those of deep thinking, is hidden a paradise! most of the people who believe, are considered crazy, as nobody has been to such a place! A land filled with beauty, colorful plants and fruits are bountiful, forests and mountains all around, all the water is sparkling, and there are many creatures. Good and bad, every creature reflecting a person of the city's persona. However, since people are starting to disbelieve, the number of bad creatures are increasing! Everybody dreams of this said paradise, to their knowledge or not... those who dont believe in the place become the bad creatures in paradise, and the people who believe are good! You must try and convince the bad that this paradise really does exist, by cleansing their souls with the elements, to remind them that these elements really exist! All of these people have lived in nothing, and they don't believe that such a beautiful place can exist. The disbelievers of the city like to attack those who believe, to try and make them think that no such place can be real, but most of the time, it takes more than brute force to make somebody believe. Fighting in the city makes you even more powerful in the dream, and can help you to cleanse the bad creatures, to make a true paradise. If more people can believe in the dreams, maybe they can turn the city into a paradise! Gradually, after months pass of cleansing, grass starts to grow in the desolate city...
Maybe the dreams are effecting reality?
Maybe the dreams are the reality?
"Anyway, I think it sounds like a good game concept. The only thing I would add is make it so the character can choose whether to make it into a paradise, or they can choose to help it become all bad and hellish. That way, you get more choices in gameplay and attract a wider gamer audience. Plus it would be fun to play it through with one end goal, and then switch to see if you can beat it both ways."
Youre a bio-student, currently studying in a the most high-tech city. Suddenly, theres a large explosion at the west of the city. The explosion emits a wave that changed all life-being. Humans and animals turned into something else. Its up to you and other survivors to check it out and use your bio knowledge to solve it because, well, youre the hero right?
And I dont have any idea left. My brain is not in the active mode right now.
It is hard to make a MMO game with a main hero, because only one person can be the main hero. Also, I really wasn't checking these forums as I sort of intended ideas and stuff to go onto the message board I started and hopefully some commenting going on and stuff(and because this site doesn't notify me by e-mail when somebody replies).
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
