1. Have you been professionally diagnosed with a mental disorder?: yep
2. If so, what disorder?: ADHD and Auditory Processing delay
3. Are you currently being treated? (Therapy, medication, etc.): No. I stop doing Ritalin years ago, and auditory is just something i live with. Its just people have to repeat it a second time for me to hear. The Doctor had me tested before college for ADHD to see how well i was doing without ritlan, and he says I don't need my meds. I have the intellegence of a college student.
4. How would you describe your art?: Fine. I don't think it effects me, other then I can't do art for too long periods, but I have to take breaks.
5. Do you feel your art would be different without your disorder?: I think so. I could be more patient with my art, and take more of my time even though I do it already.

1. Have you been professionally diagnosed with a mental disorder?: Yes.
2. If so, what disorder?: Anxiety, Depression.
3. Are you currently being treated? (Therapy, medication, etc.): I was medicated, but i'm off the meds now, i can't find anything that works, and ive actually been doing okay without it.
4. How would you describe your art?: ive been told that my style is a lot like the main artist that worked on Yellow Submarine, i forget his name. one of the best compliments ive ever gotten actually. but as far as how I would describe it, average, i guess.
5. Do you feel your art would be different without your disorder?: I dont think so, but the way i work on it and view it definitely would be. right now, i tend to dismiss what i do as just a way to pass the time, its kind of hard to be passionate about it when ive got so many doubts holding me back. i think that if my mind were clear, i'd be able to push past those thoughts of "this is nothing special" and actually take some pride in my work. but as far as the art itself, that probably wouldnt change.

i tend to ramble a little, but i hope this was helpful.

1. Have you been professionally diagnosed with a mental disorder?: yes
2. If so, what disorder?: Depression and Anxiety
3. Are you currently being treated? (Therapy, medication, etc.): yes, taking medication and therapy. Sometimes neither seem to work, but it's difficult to tell personally
4. How would you describe your art?: cartoony/anime, nothing really special, sometimes too depressing, mostly mine and other people's characters.
5. Do you feel your art would be different without your disorder?: Somewhat. I sometimes feel I draw better when I'm incredibly upset, which my depression makes worse. I don't enjoy it though. My disorder keeps me from having the will and confidence to get better and improve my art.

Yes

2. If so, what disorder?:
Autism, depression, and possibly schizophrenia. I am still being tested for the latter.

Yes. Medication, naturopathic medicines, and constantly undergoing treatment re-evaluation and modification.

Cartoon. Animal art.

5. Do you feel your art would be different without your disorder? probaly, I draw all sorts of things depending on my mood, and I'm starting to notice all my characters I come up with have an array of mental issues (explosive rage, severe paranoia, depression, or are just generally unhappy :stare:)

1. Have you been professionally diagnosed with a mental disorder?: Yes
2. If so, what disorder?: Schizophrenia and Major Depression
3. Are you currently being treated? (Therapy, medication, etc.): Yes, I take two pills a day, Abilify and Zoloft
4. How would you describe your art?: For me, art was a way of putting my fantasy world on something more permanent. My fantasy world was my way to escape the darkness of depression and the harshness of the outer world, and drawing it was a way to make it more "real", in a way.
5. Do you feel your art would be different without your disorder?: I'm quite sensitive, so I think I'd still have my fantasy world and art without my disorders. I may not retreat to it as much as I have if I didn't have them though.

Abilify is great. How did it affect you? Just curious. The only side effect I got from it was akathesia (restlessness), which I take benztropine for.
SlightlyWinged's avatar
I had horrible heartburn for the first week, that's about it. :lmao: Mentally, it's made the voices from my schizophrenia practically disappear. When I first wake up, I still sometimes have visions, but that's it. After I take it, I'm fine.

5. Do you feel your art would be different without your disorder?: I would probably be taking more risks with my art because I wouldn't be so anxious of people not liking it or worried people might think of me differently. I also have periods where my writing is very depressing and dark.

1. Have you been professionally diagnosed with a mental disorder?:
Yes.

2. If so, what disorder?:
General anxiety disorder and clinical depression.

3. Are you currently being treated? (Therapy, medication, etc.):
I take medication and have been put into a day treatment program. I also see a therapist and psychiatrist regularly.

4. How would you describe your art?:
Primarily cartoony. Sometimes I like to draw semi-/realistic as well. Pastoral and humorish.

5. Do you feel your art would be different without your disorder?:
Maybe a little, but not too much. I definitely don't think it would have that air of sad longing/childlike innocence that tints my writing and artwork.
