I believe I have pretty good drawings skills, but yet, should I try to get commissioned?

:iconmacarena:
Hi peeps!
I'm Macarena and I have some questions regarding commissions and Deviantart. Although I already have good drawing skills (at least on my opinion, I still don't have many visits, neither many watchers. I'll show you some examples of my work:

Soo.. what do you think? should I try offering commission like sketches or anime illustrations like these two:

..or should I wait? Perhaps it would be better if I did some fanart to get more visits/watchers first? or is it a better way if I improve my skills first?
If you write me back with some piece of advice I would be very grateful.
Love

It seems like you've already gotten a lot of feedback, but I thought I'd say that I think your work is really lovely! Perfectly ready for commissions! If you do decide to open up commissions, let me know! I especially like your Ukiyo-e style picture. One of my majors is Japanese Studies so I've done a lot of analyzing of woodblock prints and I like your slightly contemporary interpretation of them!

Your stuff is pretty good! You can always try offering commissions. I'm sure that people will take some commissions. :3 Good luck!

Yes you can do commissions and yes DA is a good avenue for you. My best advice is if you want to do commissions in the future then you simply have to start doing them now. Don't look at your watchers as any kind of reference to your value doing jobs here. Watchers mean nothing when it comes to jobs. Start by determining a price for your art and then post in job threads that you think you can do. It takes a lot of time to start getting commissions, regardless at what stage you start trying. People are always going to be apprehensive. Just keep chuggin at it and you will eventually reach a threshold where you get a lot of repeat customers and a lot of referrals. The best jobs come by word of mouth, but to get to that point you have to advertise yourself extensively first. You should probably expect about 3-4 weeks before your first job if you respond to an offer in the job forums only once a day. This is normal; best thing is to start doing it now.
