Dynamic journal content (tabbed journal)

I'm working one a journal design which requires dynamic content in some form.

Basically, from a purely estethic design point of view we have too much information. Currently it is being put into scroll boxes, which is slightly messy and you still have a lot of information at the same time you need to wade through.

What would be perfect was tabs that allowed the user to switch content on the journal without going to another journal or another page.

Something like this is exactly what I'm looking for.

But this requires javascript which, from what I understand, doesn't work with DA (though you could use userJS for Opera or greasemonkey for firefox to display custom javascript, but that would be an impractical solution)

I've tried to look at the code for =kill0u-CSS's MoodBox But I'm not proficient enough in CSS to hack apart the code and move it around the way I want it. Though feel free to break it down for me how I could solve this with mouseover (tabs doesn't have to be clickable, as long as they change the content within a set space)

Does anyone have a solution for this I would be eternally grateful, might even throw in a month or three subsciption (or similar rewards, prints whatever)

I'm not 100% sure this is the right place to ask for help, though I couldn't find a help-spesific forum, and I've looked through the jounral resources thread

FAQ #223: How do I make a clickable title in my journal, that reveals more text? might be what you look for.
Display by hover can work only for small modules: if you scroll, you loose the hovering effect.

Not exactly the tabs I was locking for, though I guess since hover is limited (thats probably why I couldn't make it work when I tried to alter the moodbox code, I was able to resize the boxes, but the content was the same) it would be impossible to do dynamic content on a larger scale without javascript. But thanks, it will serve it's purpouse.

Any reason display by hover is limited?

To keep the site looking the way they want it. It's dangerous to allow too much inside a website.

For some reason I can't make that code work in any of the journals on either of my accounts.

I thought at first that it was the css that removed formatting, but I also tried it in the live journal editor

All of my accounts are subscribed and I even tried to cp the code directly from the FAQ, it only displayed the text between "> and </ cut> (without the space of course)

No clickable links anywhere, tested in Opera 9.27, firefox 2.0.0.14 and Konqueror

Never mind, I though it outputted a link that would unhide text when clicked, which would be what I was looking for instead of hiding text from displaying on the front page and only showing when reading the journal with commints, which is not what I need :/

Since I'm not a subscriber, I don't know how much CSS dA allows.

But you can make tabs clickable by using the CSS :active pseudoclass with something that supports it (or :focus).

If you can write me some example code using this editor then I'll make you a subscriber.

It has an option to restrict CSS to what DA allows.

You know I didn't saw your answer until now, because you didn't use the Reply button?
This button allows to notify the person you answer to in the Message Center. Otherwise you reply to yourself and I will never see the answer unless I have the curiosity to come back...

Ah, I thought the same thing, like dA adding the necessary JavaScript which is forbidden for us.
I just tried in my journal, and indeed it works as advertised, but not as expected... :(
Useful to avoid cluttering the profile page with very long journals, but otherwise of limited interest.
