Does the existance of wickedness and of suffering prove that there is no God?

Recently, I've been noticing a lot of topics pertaining to religion, faith, God, etc. and have noticed that most of the responses are quite negative and confused. So, I thought I would make this topic to sort of see if I could "clear up" the confusion.

First, consider the title of this topic.

Next, consider some examples:

Does the fact that knives have been used to murder prove that no one designed them? Is the use of an aircraft to drop bombs in time of war evidence that they had no creator? Or is it rather the use to which these are being put that is causing grief to mankind?

Is it not true that much disease is a result of man's own poor living habits and his spoiling of the environment for himself and others? Are not the wars fought by humans a major cause of human suffering? Is it not also true that, while millions suffer from lack of food, there is more than enough in other lands, so that one of the underlying problems is human greed?

All of these things mentioned give evidence, not that there is no God, but that humans are misusing their abilites and the earth itself.

Thoughts? Questions? Feelings? All responses are welcome, even the nasty ones, because it makes my day when I can get a laugh out of ignorance.

No, but it might put some limitations on the properties of His character. That is of course highly debatable and does not exclude His existence.

In my opinion, wars and suffering are proof that if there is a God, he loves us and wishes for us to make our own mistakes.

Nothing currently proves there is a God, or lack thereof, except for faith and/or personal opinion.

No, but not for a single one of the reasons you mentioned.

No, the existence of wickedness and suffering in the world proves that the curse placed upon mankind when Adam and Eve were banished from the Garden of Eden would turn into a revelation.

So far as humans lacking food is concerned humanity brought this condition upon itself, most of the suffering you see is the result of over population. The only greed I see is humanities pathetic obsession with satisfying a selfish personal desire to reproduce like mad, and have personal pleasure through sex. The weakness of the flesh has lead to all kinds of problems.

pretty simple in my opinion: none of the evidence you mention is proof for or against the existence of a god, nor does anything else that has to do with emotional or moral appeal.

It doesn't prove it. It might even support it, since the animals have no sense of right or wrong, they just act according to their nature. Besides, I don't believe that anyone has yet come up with even a plausible explanation for why a Big Bang type creation of the universe could possibly have happened. It's kinda strange since everything appears to come out of nothing. A concept which almost certainly did not exist at the time of the writing of the bible.
