Congress has the plenary powers to control who can come in, who can stay, and who could be deported. The President has the power to execute the LAWS. Current laws do provide for deportation. Anyone that says that it is unconstitutional not only does not know what plenary powers are, but have likely not considered what the constitution itself has to say.

You cannot deport US citizens, especially on the premise of religion.
I don't think trump was only talking about muslims (given his words) who are citizens, he was talking about illegal immigrants et al (from anywhere, of any religion) and further muslim immigration being halted or curtailed.

But that said, attempting to deport US citizens by religion would probably be unconstitutional, in which case he'd do it by nationality like they did to put Japanese Americans into camps in the second world war. Which although a blight on our national history, was constitutionally viable.

I don't see any of this happening and I for sure don't see him winning presidency.
I don't see him winning it either, honestly and both republican and democrat politicians want amnesty albeit for different reasons. The democrats want a big supply of new supporters and a steady stream of low cost nannies, housekeepers and gardeners, the republicans want their rich donors to be happy and their rich donors want cheap labor and a steady stream of low cost nannies, housekeepers and gardeners.
Neither group gives a damn about the damage unlimited importation of low end workers does to the US's large lower class. To say nothing of the political clout our black population as hispanics displace them as the largest minority group. The pie isn't big enough for both groups to get big chunks of assistance.
