Is alcohol worse than weed?

infinitetolerance's avatar
Only about 30% believe it isn't.

This thread is for you people.

Why do you think that?

Do you realize the government has had propaganda out to convince you weed is dangerous for about 40 years now?

Why do you think weed is worse?

One study found that alcohol is 2.5 times worse than weed.

www.economist.com/blogs/dailyc…

I think it's more like 5.

All of the negative effects of marijuana go away after you get sober.

And here are FORTY reasons why alcohol is bad.

ithp.org/articles/alcoholworst…

Come up with 41 reasons cannabis is bad and you MIGHT have a point.

No one's ever died from weed.

Millions have died from alcohol, directly and indirectly.

Good enough for me.

Well, let's see...

I've never kicked anyone's ass or endangered anyone's life with my car while stoned.

I have kicked a fair number of people's asses (and gotten hurt once or twice myself) and endangered people's lives once driving while drinking.

Drinking brings on a case of the mean in me, smoke brings on a case of the munchies.

I would say, based on my life-long experience in both drinking and smoking that drinking is far more harmful than smoking - unless you're a frito or an oreo or trail mix or pizza or...

Depends on the strength really. Whisky and gin? Sure, but beer and wine? Not really.

Plus it's kinda an apples and oranges question. Sorta not really a question open to an
objectively certain response.

As long as nobody encourages me to smoke weed, I'll tolerate it.
gofuckyrself's avatar
Meh they both smell awful but weed doesn't kill your liver.
infinitetolerance's avatar
I think it's fair to say the only thing weed can effect negatively is your brain.
gofuckyrself's avatar
Isn't that kind of an important organ?
infinitetolerance's avatar
Well, if I think getting high is more important than minimal negative effects, then I should be able to.

It's not your job to protect me from myself.

Einstein took poison.

idk

Alcohol is worse than weed.

Isn't that an important argument?
gofuckyrself's avatar
idk if comparing one "negative" thing to another doesn't make it completely obsolete. They're kinda both are issues to different extents? People should be able to smoke or drink as long as it doesn't negatively effect others/ is abused. Seems like a simple freedom to me.

More people have died from alcohol abuse than school shootings.
Giving kids guns is safer than Alcohol.
Lets arm the students.
infinitetolerance's avatar
That's a fallacy.

Giving guns to kids is not safe... fact

Inhaling smoke is not safe... fact

Inhaling marijuana smoke can cure cancer... fact

Prove it. Show me the articles and studies from credible sources that say lighting up a joint can cure cancer. I really mean it.

I don't care, abuse of both substance is bad.
Naruto-II's avatar
Indeed. A smoker, however, would be too busy being high and laughing to pick a fight. Your regular drunk, however, is often very much capable of (heavy) violence.

Have you ever, EVER, seen two high dudes fight?
Elgrig's avatar
Given that cannabis is illicit here so, no. But I heard stories of bad trips.

You can't convince people by telling A is better than B,since different people react to those substances differently.
Drunk people are very sociable. Hence social drinking, so your point?
