Labour to rise minimum wage...

Dagger-13's avatar
So I've seen today that Labour are saying they'll raise the minimum wage to £8 an hour - am I the only person who thinks this would be a terrible idea?!  I've recently changed jobs, but the small, independent family company I worked for for the past 8 1/2 years was struggling enough with expenses as it was without adding a massive hike to minimum wage to their problems.  Especially with this new pension scheme which has come in.

I think a raise in the minimum wage would wipe out small businesses altogether and would rise the prices of every company which is left - after all, they have to do something to cover the rise in the wages they have to pay!

It really annoys me when politicians and their parties come up with such blatantly stupid ideas purely because the low-earning public will think 'hey, more wages, great!'.  IT IS NOT THAT EASY, MR MILLIBAND.  'Good' headlines, bad ideas.

Of course, I don't know how best to fix the whole people-not-being-able-to-afford-housing thing, but I'm pretty sure this is not the way of it.

Rant over. Deep breath.

Labour are traitors. They are not a party worthy of government. They fail in their primary duty of protecting the British people, but rather expose them to unnecessary dangers through support of mass third-world immigration, which brings hitherto unknown levels and kinds of crime. Labour councillors are the worst for failing to prosecute Muslim rape gangs who pray on working-class white girls, for fear of upsetting 'community cohesion'. The Labour traitors would rather let this child abuse and torture and terror go on under their noses, with their full knowledge, for decade after decade. They are monsters. Labour also embroiled us in the criminal war in Iraq, which did nothing in the national interest. Labour are the scum of the earth, and the word 'traitor' does not seem strong enough a label for these filthy vermin. I literally would not vote Labour again for a million pounds, nor even to save my life. If they think they can buy votes by being generous with other-people's money then I hope people will see through this abject theft and bribery, which is an insult to all concerned, and tell them where they can stick it.

But who do they vote for instead? Conservatives who want an end to the NHS? UKIP who are made up of Tories who think the Tories are being too soft? Lib Dems, well we know they no longer stand a chance after Nick Clegg jumped into bed with Cameron.
The other parties outside of Labour and the three above just lack the political power in terms of media reach to be able to make enough headway in winning enough seats to actually force change.
The results of nest year's election will be interesting to see. Whether in the long term it produces any useful results for the ordinary people of the UK... I'm not going to hold my breath.
Problem is, the main parties are all buying votes. They have been since the dawn of time and will continue to do so unless they are all boycotted, which sadly, I don't think will happen in my lifetime.

Well, if it's a case of sacrificing the NHS or sacrificing the nation, that's a bit of a no-brainer. The NHS became a chaotic mess under Blair anyway. The whole political class are not very inspiring, but Labour have the most horrendously anti-British ideologies, and are guilty of the most blatant treason. I have come to the view that there is no voting our way out of our problems and that the state, in the hands of a traitor elite, can not be relied upon to do anything good for the people, nor to offer any protection or justice. In a Labour controlled area, a father who tried to rescue his daughter from a Muslim rape gang would be more likely to face prosecution than the rapists. The same Labour councils that turned a blind eye to Pakistani rape gangs praying on white girls, had some adopted kids taken away from an English couple because they were UKIP voters and might bring up the children as culturally British!

Labour also transferred jobs away from towns they deemed 'too white and too British.'
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/artic…
Such is the hostile, oikophobic, xenophile regime the Labour party imposes. They are racially discriminatory and against their own ostensible people and culture, and I don't see why the British- the working class in particular- should put up with that contemptuous treatment. Anyone of that demographic who is still prepared to vote Labour must be suffering from some serious Stockholm Syndrome.

As for media reach, the 'mainstream' media are also part of the untrustworthy establishment. People are better off turning off the TV and not wasting their money on the newapapers, and instead going to source. The internet has been a boon in this regard.

I personally wouldn't touch any right wing party with a 10-foot barge pole. Since the coalition came in my wages have decreased. I'm struggling on one source of income to keep a roof over my head in one of the cheapest places in the UK to live. Another 5 years of the Conservatives and I see myself homeless. Many more people are in an identical or worse position to myself.
The UK has already been destroyed. It's been sold off to the lowest bidder piece by piece over the last 30 or more years.
Not one of the main parties has the inclination to do anything but help big businesses and themselves. A vote for any of them is a vote to say goodbye to any last remaining public services we have.
If anyone believes the abolition of the NHS in favour of a US healthcare model is the ideal, then, to my mind they don't understand what the ordinary people of the UK are going through, the 80% who are against the NHS being completely privatised.
I would continue, but the thought of what over 3 decades of ineptitude on a grand scale, actively encouraged by an apathetic population has done to this country is annoying me far too much.
The only thing I would add is that the likes of BNP or Britain First are not the answer. Unless you happen to want a repeat of 1930's Germany.

The coalition came in confronted with a recession that Labour got us into. Meanwhile the wealth disparity between rich and poor increased during the Labour tenure.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/artic…

In 2004 it was reported that the number of homeless households doubled since Labour came to power...

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknew…

Larger point is we'd all be homeless if Labour continued with its way, as our home-land would be further dissolved into a multicultural nothing.

A lot of good things happened in 1930s Germany, by the way. I don't favour totalitarianism or socialism, but I'd rather live in 1930s Germany than in Pakistan or Somalia in any era, or in the parts of the UK that such hostile peoples have been permitted to colonise. 1930s Germany comparisons are not legitimate, anyway, because the Germans weren't in danger of being reduced to an ethnic minority in Germany in 1930s Germany. The white British are in such a danger now. (White British people are already a minority in our own capital city.)
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/artic…

The Jews in 1930s Germany also didn't have 50 Jewish countries to choose from if they were asked to leave, whereas there are 50 or so Muslim majority countries in the world today. The Jews in 1930s Germany were also not chopping off the heads of German soldiers in the streets, or bombing trains an buses,  or setting up no-go zones where Germans could not tread, or building triumphal mega-Synagogues. They weren't subjecting young working class German girls to obscene and sadistic sexual abuse throughout Germany. (They were, however, often legitimately linked to the Bolshevik threat and the mass killings of Christians in Russia, which was substantially the work of Jews).

Quite honestly I think most of the wartime generation of Britons, Churchill included, would have preferred a successful German invasion of Britain to have taken place than to have seen Britain destroyed as it was by the post-war traitor elite, who squandered that victory. To have uncouth Muslims rampaging and raping at will, while the police run scared, is hardly a desirable outcome. Really, if you played the following videos to the troops getting ready for D-Day then I doubt many would still have gone over the channel to fight their white brothers. They would think they had been conned, that their sacrifice would be pointless, and they would have been right.

White British are the majority. I wouldn't rely on the Fail to provide anything of great fact. ONS statistics show the Mail to be incorrect.
I doubt any who fought in WW2 would take a German victory no matter.
Comparisons can be drawn if you compare Nazi propaganda with current right wing propaganda.
Are you sure you aren't falling for political propaganda?
I live on the border of Moss Side and Rusholme. No hostile people here. Well, unless you count the white, right wing people who try to convince me that my Muslim neighbours want to kill or rape me.
They don't seem to like a woman who can think for herself and form an intelligent opinion. They also don't like that I consider myself a citizen of Earth before any country.
Just think, who will be the next target of the far right once the immigrants, Muslims etc have gone and the current problems still remain. Will it be you?
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out -
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out -
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

The 2011 Census showed that white British people constitute 44.9% of London's population, and the Mail reported this accurately. They are out-numbered by foreigners and non-whites. White flight has been a feature as it has been in all white countries that have had mass non-white immigration inflicted upon them. Ken Livingstone, meanwhile, was so patriotic as to say 'I will make London a beacon of Islam', and he has the support of some pretty unsavoury and seditious Islamists...

blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/and…

You wouldn't have to be right wing or white to notice that Kriss Donald's Pakistani neighbours wanted to torture and kill him for being white or that thousands of non-Muslim, mostly white girls have been targeted by Muslim gangs across the land for grooming and rape. It's also clear enough that the immigration-loving political Left is chiefly responsible for this state of affairs. So 'coming for the socialists' might have been a good idea at that! Labour Party leaders should be on trial for treason. It was primarily Labour Party authorities who not only failed to speak out for the British girls the Muslim gangs were coming for but who let the evil state of affairs go on for decades. Apparently that's what you've got to do if you are keen on preserving 'community cohesion'. Sacrifice white children on the gory altar of diversity. Would that have been a consideration if the backgrounds of the offenders and victims were reversed? I rather doubt it! First, in fact, they, the PC thought police, came for the Nationalists. They arrested conscientious patriots who tried to expose what was going on!

Being a world citizen doesn't mean not acknowledging other more immediate identities, interests and allegiances. Otherwise why be so parochial as to stop at citizenship of Earth? What have you got against other worlds? Why not say you are a citizen of the cosmos?

£8 by 2020. The current living wage (not minimum) for London is £8.81 what will it be in 2020?
Far better to look at the Greens policy of UBI to replace the tax-free threshold. That would actually streamline DWP as it wouldn't be means tested, paid automatically to every citizen over a certain age (IIRC 16) and anything you earn in addition to that is then subject to tax. Given that they also would like to see a minimum wage that is also a living wage, and reverse privatisation of the rail network (because selling it off worked so well) and the NHS is it any wonder the UK media don't discuss them?
The money is there in the government to do those things (if you think otherwise, ask how MPs can have a pay rise of 11% and the government can afford to send billions abroad and go to war. Yet strangely, if it's anything to help the worst off in the UK, the pot is empty).
Labour are no longer a left wing party. They haven't been left wing for a number of years now, despite the rhetoric. They are right of centre, along with the Conservatives and Lib Dems. Most of the UK population, if they actually read the manifestos of the main UK parties wouldn't vote for any of them, because they no longer represent the people.
We should rather be discussing how good a job the media does of keeping the general public in the dark about TTIP (a far greater threat to the UK than increasing the minimum wage) because no one in Westminster wants it known how keen they are to completely sell off the NHS to private companies.

I'm all for paying taxes, but it does annoy me when they send so much money abroad, as you said.  I will pay taxes for my county, not for the government to dole out to it's friends!  I've never heard of TTIP (which emphasises that point, too...) - it's amazing how much people (yes, including myself) are swayed by the media.  You may not believe 100% of everything the media says, but I often forget about the unsaid things.  Will have to look into TTIP....although it'll probably just depress me 9_9

The raising of min. wage in my state of New York has always effed me over.
I've been at my current job for almost 4 years, and I only make 81 cents more (per hour) than the high schoolers who started less than 3 months ago.
AND I work in a specialized department too (that the kids can't work in because [a] they're too young and [b] aren't trained, which takes  a good 2 months).

Can't wait to get out of there x_x
Dagger-13's avatar
Hmm, that sounds like a bummer.  I'm a believer in the more knowledge you need to do a job, the higher the wages should be.

I'm not British, but it sounds like this Labour Party of yours isn't anything I can sympathize with.
Dagger-13's avatar
That pretty much sums up our three main parties, unfortunately....they spend so much time making sensational headlines and slagging each other off that no-one believes anything that they say.  And politics is so important, it's frustrating!
Valzeras's avatar
Vote for the communist party and get it just to #3 spot and that'll scare the remaining 2 parties to give the best conditions for the people.
Dagger-13's avatar
That's a terrible reason to vote for someone...BNP nearly got in last time that happened, and ain't nobody wantin that! ;)
Valzeras's avatar
If you don't use votes to prove that the system is a sham, why vote at all? voting in BNP proved that democracy is a lie after how the elected BNP officials were sidelined and MI5 released a list of BNP supporters and voters.

If you try to vote for nationalists or communists and it looks like it's going to succeed, they'll just suspend or abolish democracy and stop the sham.
