Republicans and Democrats come together at last!

Nope, they didn't solve the inevitable man-made fiscal calamity, change their views on taxes, guns, mass killings or abortion -- they came together to make sure they can wiretap you and check your emails some more.

Fisa was extended for 5 more years yesterday (thank God!) and is expected to be signed by Obama when it hits his desk (don't worry, they still don't need warrants for anything!).

What say all of you? Since when do the parties get along at all, let alone well enough to pass something without anyone really noticing? Is this more important than the world economy, etc.

I read the title of this thread in a sensational voice over voice. So it was like coming soon! The magical wonders of Disney’s Republicans and Democrats on ice!

It's like the sort of thing Stephen Colbert would come up with.

I have my moments.

I haven’t been able to watch his show in a while. I cancelled my cable a while back.

You can actually watch a lot of it for free online, if you have a fast enough connection. [link]

Hell, last I knew congress was in recess. But Friday is known to be the day to pass something if you don't want people to pay attention to it.

Are congress discussions publicly broadcast?

Technically, but nobody seriously watches CSPAN.

We should go back to the days when Congressional debates involved things like duels and fistfights. Everybody would be instantly glued to CSPAN.

No guns; it'd end up with matches rigged by the NRA with superior firearms. But fisticuffs and swords, by all means.
