Is the Left lost?

There was movement to the Right, for the word had passed around. Apologies to Banjo Patterson.

Abbotts approval ratings are at their lowest point ever, it seems like a strange time to make this post when the Liberals are at their most hopeless.

We saw people get fed up with ineffective Labor premiers and vote in Libs who royally fucked their states in the arse. I think it will be no trouble for Gillard next year as people have realised an ineffective government isn't necessarily that bad compared to Abbott. Gillard is useless but its better to be useless than a complete arsehole.

All the movement in Aus politics is definitely towards the left, look at the Greens, if they keep gaining ground at the rate they have been in 20yrs we will definetly be a 3 party country.

Labor party is fucked, The Liberal National Party is fucked. ugh, independents, I mean, don't get me started on Bob Katter...

If Tony Abbot gets in, however, it'll be Campbell Newman 2.0. You just have to look at the airport tunnel to see how well he's governing...
Bullet-Magnet's avatar
Yeah, I'd have thought that an airport in a tunnel would be a bad idea to begin with.
divine--apathia's avatar
It's a tunnel to the airport.
skulkey's avatar
you're no fun.
divine--apathia's avatar
Looking at what Campbell Newman has done is almost as outrageous as an airport in a tunnel.

One of the biggest fire seasons coming up? LETS SLASH THE AMOUNT OF FIRE FIGHTERS.
skulkey's avatar
niiice...

reminds me of the out-of-work fireman in Arizona that started a forest fire, presumably so he could get work. now he's probably picking up trash in an orange jumpsuit in the middle of the fucking desert. jackass....
divine--apathia's avatar
Ugh. They caught some fuckwit recently, who had started over 70 fires in my region/regions around here, last year, alone.
Bullet-Magnet's avatar
Shhh. I'm enjoying my underground airport fantasy.

Are you imagining planes taking off and hitting the roof? because that's what I am :paranoid:

By "Left" do you mean "The Democratic Party of the United States"? If so, then I would say yes, because they are not the least bit left-wing to begin with; they are a far-right political party.

However I do not believe that the true left is entirely lost. Social-Democracy and other forms of left-libertarianism have caught on in some areas of Europe, such as Iceland, Sweden and Switzerland, and such ideologies are beginning to gain mainstream popularity in the States. Even left-wing ideologies which were thought to be dead are being revived as fringe movements of considerable size, such as anarcho-syndicalism, mutualism, councilism and libertarian-socialism. I believe that the left (particularly the libertarian left) can continue to pull through, just as right-wing/market libertarians and individualist-anarchists have managed to do so, despite having periods of decline or appropriation by illegitimate groups.

We just need to market ourselves appropriately and take heed to the bias which has resulted from the appropriation of our movements by our enemies.

The Democrats are not far-right at all.

The US Democrats are center-right. They are still right-wing.
RestInMotion's avatar
Not denying that. I'm saying they are not far-right.

Carter, Clinton and Obama all maintain close ties with the Trilateral Commission, a globalist organization founded and owned by David Rockefeller himself. Members of Monsanto Company and other highly corrupt corporations are usually appointed to advisory positions by Democrats. The Democrats have extended Bush tax cuts for the wealthy and shunned unemployment rates for the sake of furthering a neoliberal, pro-globalist/neo-imperial agenda. (Clinton was downright evil in this regard, with NAFTA and the likes, contributing to all forms of genocide, mass-rape and loss of workers' rights as a result of his administration's meddling with overseas economies.) The Affordable Healthcare Act is a neoliberal scheme; it is little more than a legislation to ensure that the healthcare industry maintains its grotesque profits in lieu of the baby boomers reaching Medicare-eligible age. They use civil rights issues to gain support during elections and then forget about those issues immediately after they are re-elected, putting them off for 'future generations to worry about'. Etc, etc...

I could go on and on. The Democratic Party is only "left" to somebody who has no comprehension whatsoever of the word. They are nothing more than a guise set up to marginalize the left and keep us out of mainstream politics.
RestInMotion's avatar
You say they aren't left but describe them as neo-liberal, which is on the left. The Democratic Party is on the left. Not far on the left. But they certainly are not far-right.
