Why do democrats pander to the bum class and the badly educated?

:iconmeanus:
meanus Featured By Owner Nov 9, 2012
I was thinking the other day about how the 47 percent who pay no taxes, the welfare crowd, the poor educated immigrants and inner city folk all seem to be targeted by the Democrats. On the other hand, hard working people who pay taxes and show a little initiative typically run from the democrat party. How do you explain this situation? ONe almost thinks its easier to sell bull to the ignorant and the bums??

Wait, so are Democrats the party of college-student elitists or a party of welfare bums?

If you study history, you'll see that when a government tries to help all of its people (like globalized healthcare, social security, welfare and disability), it typically becomes too powerful and controlling, quickly becomes abused, or it fails. Democrats want to help everyone but with a bit of studying you can find that that idea doesn't work out well. These intentions are good but the role of a government is to govern, not to coddle everyone.

People who are poor and poorly educated still want what is promised by the Democrats. They don't see that things could be different and better if the government merely regulated and didn't step into things as much.

Because life is a struggle. People will always be getting sick, unusual circumstances will always be popping up, disasters are always going to be happening. Capitalism is all about survival of the fittest, with everyone fending for themselves. Those that fall, they're left on their own. Socialism is all about team work, and ensuring that if someone falls, they'll be taken care of until they get back on their feet. Of course, lots of people can still abuse it if they're lazy, and it's a very dangerous game getting people to not be completely dependent on the system. But, it's worth it. Societies must rely on educating people to be decent, moral people for it to work.

Sometimes decent moral people are permanently injured or unable to work. Sometimes decent moral people simply can't find jobs because none are available.

Hell, sometimes decent moral people are sick, or their children or sick, and because of America's totally fucked up and ridiculously inhumane medical system by the time they're better, or their children are better, they have medical debts so large they have to declare bankruptcy. More than HALF of all bankruptcies in America are because of medical bills. That is a LOT of people falling through the cracks, and they can be decent, moral, hard working people WITH jobs too.

why do you think healthcare is so expensive....our government spends trillions on it which creates inflation and now it is unaffordable. Same with college tuition, greedy college admins see the government spending more and they say gimme some of that...they hike tuition to obscene levels and get their new football stadium paid for!!!!!!

Healthcare is so expensive because people HAVE to pay for it, and because Government doesn't control it! When people have to PAY to LIVE, the people providing those services can charge as much as they want, especially when it's unregulated, and get away with it. People have to pick the PAY option because there's no other alternative. If they don't, they might die, or their children might die. And because of this, millions of America are slaves to their health, and countless thousands go bankrupt simply because they wanted to live.

That's exactly what we've been seeing all these years, and exactly why universal healthcare is needed. It's to prevent this inhumane abuse by private institutes with too much power, and too much greed, and not enough respect and basic decency for fellow humanity.

Universal healthcare is about making sure that medicine is for helping people get better, and not for making a profit.

The same goes for the other things that you wrote. Greedy Admins hiking tuition simply because they can, because people need to get educated if they want to do well. Through their greedy actions hard working, decent people have to put themselves into absurd amounts of debt just to get the education they need to get a job that pays well. It's predatory greed at its worst.

And again, that's why government needs to be spending more on instituting things at a national social level. Because these things shouldn't be about turning profits and operated on greed. It's why America has fallen as low as it has, because so many things that people DESERVE have instead become things they need to pay ridiculous amounts of money for. This is all because of the extreme end of capitalism, and capitalism at its worst, when Government doesn't have enough power, or regulations in place to keep them in check.

healthcare costs increase because the government pays so much of it and providers know they can milk the government for all its worth and nobody gives a damn cause Obama will only borrow a few trillion more from China.
Then the bill comes due and we have massive rioting and 30percent unemployment like Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy, etc

The government isn't supposed to fix people and their situations but to govern.
To:
Conduct the policy, actions, and affairs of (a state, organization, or people).
Control, influence, or regulate (a person, action, or course of events).

Not fix everything that seems hard or unfortunate.

If you study history, you'll find no such tendency.

Please to look at actual countries in the real world nao! :iconlolcatplz:

Start with the Scandinavian countries for solid, long-term social welfare.

Yeah, but you do pay taxes. In the US, half of the population doesn't pay taxes, another half pays little taxes. And they want Scandinavian social welfare without paying for it. That's the problem.

Are you kidding? Of course a lot more than half in the US pays taxes. The 47% remark was just about income taxes, because 47% don't make enough to pay that. They still pay property taxes etc.

Ignorance...

Income tax is the most important for the federal government, it makes 41% of all federal receipts. Payroll tax is the second one but it is fully spend on Medicare and Social Security.

Property tax is going to the municipality (or the county) a person lives in.

Not really. Social welfare is provided by the federal level, not by the states or counties or municipalities. If they want more social welfare, they have to pay more (income) taxes. Simple as that.

The Nordic nations (and their neighbours like Ireland and the Netherlands) have STRONG welfare states with heavy tax burdens on their citizens. Yet these nations have the most stable governments, the seemingly least corrupt governments and they have the happiest citizens. And despite their pinko tendencies, they keep deficits/surplusses near the break even point fairly well, and they weathered the recession better than most.

There's definitely a right way and wrong way to run a welfare state. The Mediterranean way will leave you bust, but the North Sea way will leave you robust. Unfortunately the US seems to favour the Mediterranean model by escalating discretionary spending without finding new sources of revenue rather than the disciplined Nordic-and-neighbours model.
