Oh jeez, quit whining already. If you're so good at foretelling the future you should have seen this coming. Even with a not so shiny record, Obama managed to hold off Romney. And why? Because the GOP failed to convince the common guy that they're on his side. Even the senior citizens got a scare this time because of Ryan and his voucher thing.
The bleak fat maggots that leeched off the people all the time have learned that no super PAC can buy an election and that is a comforting thought. If the GOP wants to maintain a role of significance it needs to lay off it's butt hurt obstructionism and get rid of it's image of a hub for all sorts of lobbyists, bigots, opportunists, zealots and whatever scum they represent. Despite all cold war trauma and other rhetoric the GOP turned out to be the ones that are not trusted by the masses and their intentions remain obscure to say the least. Hopefully we got rid of the carrot that kept dangling in front of the mule.
Nah. I expected this result. He has four hard years to come. I wonder what will happen when the people that sees him as a saviour find out he cannot do everything he promissed , because is not an easy task. He has a huge mess in his hands and even if he can try to change some laws , the society will not change so easily.
The successful people will be sucessful under Obama and the messed up will continue messed up.
What was the deciding factor in this election? Women and Latino's. The country is changing and the GOP is getting left behind in the dust. As Michael Steele said on TV this AM "either the GOP changes, drastically and gets with the times or they will cease to exist by 2020". He is correct. Every month 18,000 new Latino voters turn 18. Either the GOP deals with immigration with a logical path along with such social issues as gay marriage and women's rights or ~poof~ The party dies.
So much hate coming from the Right these days and what happened? A lot of those people spewing it were either defeated or not elected. West? Gone. Akin? Defeated. Murdouch? Defeated. Now it is YOUR party's turn to reach across the aisle and get stuff done instead of doing obstructionism. 2014 isn't far away.
perhaps the best thing I have read today is this [link]
"The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president." ~ Mitch McConnell, 2010
"Good morning Senator McConnell—After leading a historic number of filibusters in the Senate; after you voted against jobs bills, Veterans jobs bills; ANY bill that would help we the people and our economy so you could defeat our President—you didn’t defeat him. Feeling a little headachy this a.m.?
Say, Senator, how do you like the new make-up of the Senate? Harry Reid is STILL Senate Majority Leader and you have a couple more women to contend with: (D) Senator-elect Elizabeth Warren from MA, (D) Senator-elect Tammy Baldwin from WIS who is the first openly gay woman elected to the Senate, (R) Deb Fischer from Neb, and (D) Claire McCaskill keeps her seat. I’m feeling very good about any Supreme Court Justices that the Senate might have to vote on.
Women voted 55% with President Obama to Romney’s 43% (Told ya women would make a difference in this election!!)
Good morning, GOPTea Sec. of State Husted and Gov. Scott—You both did everything in your power to swing Ohio and Florida to the Republicans: Cutting early voting days in half, especially in Democratic districts; conducting voter-purges; making it illegal for people like The League Of Women Voters to register voters; making provisional ballot laws; passing voter-suppression-ID-laws; creating the endlessly-hours- long lines in your states so that Florida can’t even be called yet. However—Ohio went for President Obama, and Florida is looking good for the President but guess what? He didn't need you anyway, Gov. Scott. Feeling a little headachy this a.m. guys?
I look forward to re-vamping our voting system so that senior citizens don’t have to stand in line for 5 hours, or any citizen for that matter, and making sure EVERYONE can VOTE. In his acceptance speech last night, President Obama referred to our voting system saying, “By the way, we have to fix that.” And we will.
I’m already looking forward to the 2014 elections when the Democrats will take back the House and Sen. McConnell is up for re-election."
The Republican party lost because they put up an idiot named Romney who was pretty much the worst candidate. Ron Paul would have won this election. Huntsman would have been good too. The GOP doesn't need the Latino vote or the gay and lesbian vote. There are 100 million gun owners in this country. If they all voted it would be Democrat party that would cease to exist.
Actually Ron paul would have done ok but he wouldn't have won. I think in many ways people romanticize about Ron paul but in a general? No he would have done worse. Some of his views are good and I agree with some of them but he has this ability to be rather extremist as well which would not sit well with with America at large. The mere fact that he has immediate ties with Don Black, director of the white nationalist (Nazi) founder of Stormfront would be his death sentence in a general. Then you have militias which openly support him as well. Militias are seen by the general public as extremist. The very second that stuff starts to come out to where the public would know about it, he would be done in a Presidential election. Not to mention his conspiracy theories on 9/11 thinking it was an inside job done by the CIA. Agreed, Huntsman would have been a great choice but he was thrown under the bus early by the far right. He would have gone places and I do like him.
Actually the GOP does need the Latino vote. In a few shorts years time whites will be the minority in this country. Great article here about it and women as well [link]
100 million guns owners, sure, however many of us vote Democratic [link] Suprised?
I am sorry but I have to disagree here with you. If anything, polls all showed that Obama understands the problem of the middle class than Romney by huge margins.
If you work for what you need he is your worst man? How is getting a rebate check from health insurance companies a bad thing? How is getting a tax cut to middle class families a bad thing? The list is long..health care reform...tons of stuff.
So I have a question for you. What has the GOP done to help the middle class? It seems like you are anti-Obama this and that but let's hear what would like to see out of the GOP.
Reuters please? "Early exit polls reflected a pro-Obama turnout by minorities and single women so big that in some key states it exceeded numbers seen during his historic election in 2008 as America's first black president."
yes, we are becoming more like other third world nations....filling up with uneducated foreigners who only want free rides and the democrats make sure they get it. Sixteen trillion in debt and Obama certain to add another seven or eight trillion to that amount. Thank God the congress will stop Obama from fucking up to badly
its a good sign that Obama just squeaked out a win...still a lot of real Americans out there
You don't get it do you. You honestly don't. "filling up with uneducated foreigners who only want free rides and the democrats make sure they get it"
Remind us all once again which states have the worst records in education? Which states seek out more federal assistance and are poorer & less educated? Oh yeah, that's right, Red States.
Squeaked out a win? Squeaked? Since when is receiving more than 300 electoral votes considered squeaking by? By all accords that is borderline landslide. Not quite but it is getting within the realm. Far from squeaking out a win like Bush v. Gore.
You aren't any less or more of an American than myself or anyone else who posts here within the political forums on DA who are an American citizen and you need to stop and recognize that. You love this country as much as I do and everyone else. The difference is in how we see things and it is THAT very thing, freedom and acceptance of others, their beliefs, the right to express ones self that this country was founded on. Just because you see things differently doesn't make you any less of an American than I nor vice/versa. It is what it is, we see things differently and through that we reach compromise, ultimately a middle ground, where the country moves forward.
