I've heard over the news the past week about the elections of the Presidency in America, yes I don't know the full story but seeing quotes, small examples of his speech on the TV or generally around the area, I've got a basic idea.
What has really irked me is what he said about UK. “England is just a small island. Its roads and houses are small. With few exceptions, it doesn’t make things that people in the rest of the world want to buy. And if it hadn’t been separated from the continent by water, it almost certainly would have been lost to Hitler’s ambitions.” — Mitt Romney
The first thing that makes me feel embarrassed for him is the fact that England isn't the island of the UK. Everybody knows that the UK is made out of 4 countries. Number two is the fact that the UK has made a lot of bloody helpful things for the world, and have contributed fairly to the history of the world. Another fact that I find rather stupid that I have heard about recently is that he is all for health care paying for drugs such as Viagra, yet no birth control. What is the whole point in promoting this? It is like he is trying to encourage everyone to just jump on each other, and reproduce like bunnies. Hmm well it doesn't sound too smart, what would happen if this was allowed? An even bigger over population of the earth and more women would have be suffering with problems during pregnancy...hmm and then that means even more people using the health care, this causing an endless cycle of problems. And finally is what he said about a particular race, he does realise that you have to be very careful what you say about any race nowadays, as you say one thing out of line, even the smallest remark and you have a whole nation against you. I'm not American so I don't know much about the politics there but I do know that he isn't the right person for Presidency. I believe that the right person is someone who actually thinks for people, and I mean everyone no matter who you are, what you are, where you come from etc, not someone who is just for the bigger man, or the big walletted business men.
Anyway after all my ranting, I was just curious on everyone else's views on this topic, no matter how small or how big they are.
Awake is too frightened to debate me and has placed me on ignore, so I'm going to place my rebuttal here for everyone else:
A far more apt example:
Imagine, for a minute, that you are a stock holder in a company. You have a CEO who took over when the company was facing bankruptcy and has managed to change that fate into a slow growth for nearly 3 years. Mind you his popularity isn't what it once was, and the company isn't breaking any new records yet but you are now growing instead of breaking up the company, laying everyone off, and having a fire sale on office furniture.
You have a fractious board of directors that refuses to even allow many potential changes go to a vote. Instead, one faction has restrained nominations of company officers and managers as well as primary corporate governance changes and product development initiatives by placing a record number of secret holds and board vetoes (there is no corporate version of a filibuster so I made it up) on those changes every single year. Now imagine the titular leader of this faction has gone on record stating that the number one priority of his faction is not to help rebuild your company, and it's not to save as many of their workers jobs as possible, and it's not to make sure the stock rises and makes you money, nope. This faction's leader says their main goal since the last CEO was fired, is to make sure the current CEO is voted out at the next shareholder meeting.
the American media drags up every little tiny bit of dirt on Romney because they love Obama and keep their noses firmly planted in his God like asshole. Liberals prefer their president bowing to foreigners, kissing their ass, and declaring what a horrible county the USA is. btw, without the US, England and Russia both would be waving the swastika today...just a hard fact, no disrespect cause England fought well in that shitty war against socialist Germany
Imagine, for a minute, that you are on the board of directors of a company. You have a CEO who is not meeting his numbers and who is suffering a declining popularity with his customers. You want to help this CEO recover, but then you learn he doesn’t want your help. He is smarter than you and eager to tell you this. Confidence or misplaced arrogance? You’re not sure at first. If the company was performing well, you’d ignore it. But the company is performing poorly, so you can’t.
With some digging, you learn, to your horror, that the troubled CEO spends a lot of time on — what the hell? — bowling? Golf? Three point shots? While the company is going south?
What do you do? You fire that CEO. Clint Eastwood was right. You let the guy go.
Romney is an idiot, and every sane American apologizes for us inflicting him on you, and for half our country still being stupid enough to support him.
Romney makes me embarrassed to be an american. As soon as I can afford it, I'm moving to England, getting citizenship there, and pretend I came from Canada instead.
