Police evacuated the park on Sunday where six months ago started the movement Let's go occupy and arrested dozens of people after the protesters returned to the site to remember the beginning of the protests and defied orders to leave the area.

Police said 73 people were arrested, but it was unknown how many of them remained under arrest on Sunday afternoon.

Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore, who had given a speech at a nearby university, also went briefly to the park and was surrounded by protesters.

Sandra Nurse, member of the group's direct action movement, claimed that the police treated the demonstrators aggressively and made arbitrary arrests.

Westboro Baptists are protected under the First Amendment(somehow) and thus have police protection wherever they go.

It's more right to peaceful protest, but that's always been one of those rights we are supposed to/should have but don't really. Zucotti park was pretty sweet, hopefully they figure out a way to get it going again.
