why must the democratic party be so christian influenced?

Ive noticed that the mostly liberal democratic party relies extremely heavily on fundamentalist christians and other who claim to be deeply religious........here is a list
Jimmy Carter
JOhn Edwards
Bill Moyers
REverend Jeremiah Wright
Reverend Jessie Jackson
Reverend Al Sharpeton
Cindy Sheehan
Barak Obama

Even Nancy Pelosi claims she prays everynight for President Bush and we have all seen the pictures of Bill and Hillary praying fervishly in this or that black church

I wonder if all this influence by devout christians has a good impact on the democratic party and the decisions they make? what do you think about they way they mix God and politics?
