Terms like "real" and "hoax" are extremely loaded.
At the very least what most scientists agree on is a current warming trend. What everyone is speculating on with varying degrees of accuracy and credibility are how much warmer it will get, if or when it will cool down again, and whether or not the current trend is a normal anomaly.
Most credible science tends to attach some man-made effect which is driving (at least in part) global warming, although there is some evidence from slightly credible sources that the heating is due to a heat transfer between the north and south poles which could be made worse by man-made effects.
But in it's current state, global warming science is too far politicized to be trusted too extravagantly. Climate models are too difficult to characterize effectively so they use nebulous coefficients to get them to match known historical data and then step forward to predict future data (like temperature). The models make sense, are credible, and defensible, but everyone including many climatologists are hesitant to say they're indisputable.
Ice core and tree ring data is reliable to within known amounts of error, so out temperature history ought to be reliable to within a known error and as far as I can tell, the current heating is outside that error range indicating something bigger than just natural heating and colling processes are going on. Anyone trying to tell you anything more specific (that water levels will rise by X amount, or temperatures by Y amount, etc...) are trying to use scare tactics and political gesturing rather than confining themselves to what rational science will tell you.
I believe it's natures way of showing humankind just how small and insignificant we really are. We humans think we are so powerful that we can cause our climate to change. Nature has it's way of showing us who really is in charge, and it sure as hell isn't us. Hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, tsunami's, droughts, flooding, and more. We are nothing compared to the power of nature.

On the question of what kind of game would you create: "I'd make an FPS that takes place in Hell where in every level, each boss fight would be you against an evil historical figure." ~~Doodle-Boy1

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
