Metaphoric mushroom - an anxious trip of doom

Ahoy. You there. Sailing on the perilous sea of the merry ship 'internet'.
I'm sorry to inform you that you've been marooned on this here island which layman call 'philosophy forum island'.

By the invitation of the natives, I offer you this mushroom. <You eat it>
Suddenly you don't feel quite right. You're eyes are starting to notice something strange about the letters in front of you. That mushroom was a very special mushroom. The mushroom of truth.

<Follow badeyedeers as he explores island>

<As we explore you begin to question everything that brought you to exist here>
First you think about your birth. On the simplest level you were the product of your father's sperm and your mothers egg, in humanist poetry however, you were born of something much more profound, the invisible forces of love and destiny. Your father's sperm and your mother's egg comes from an even longer lineage, the mammalian family tree.
<as you walk through the forest of your history you notice that there is a monkey sitting in your family tree>.
<Follow badeyedeers to tree>
<Give banana to monkey>
<Talk to monkey>
The monkey tells you that humankind is doomed to have a beginning and an end, just like all creatures in the evolution timeline. There were ancestors who predated you, and likewise, their will come a time when something non human or trans-human will proceed you. He also tells you that your entire species is uglier and stupider than you think, and that you're attraction to each other and culture is mostly based upon hormones and chemical reactions in your brain. Lastly he tells you on a personal level that you are particularly ugly for a human, and that your face is 'just all wrong'
<Throw rock at monkey>
<Follow badeyedeers to pile of rocks>
<Look at pile of rocks>
This pile of rocks pretty much sums up all of civilisation. Humans have been pushing around rocks for thousands of years, and making patterns that they deem important for various reasons. Pretty soon humans convinced each other that the arrangement of rocks was so important that they started killing each other over it.

Something strange happened whilst you were staring at the stream. You must have lost time, (Like in those U.F.O) shows. Philosophy island sure has changed since you were last here, either that or the mushroom has had some unknown effect on you.

>Look around

Looking around you see the forest has grown into a buzzing metropolis. There is a robot standing nearby and some other holographic people whom you recognise as fellow philosophy island shipmates.

The tallest tower in the center of the new metropolis you can see is marked in colourful letters 'Google Towers'. What a grand old place that is. You can also see a load of other rather incredible buildings of vast dimensions, one marked with a single 'F', one marked with the blue symbol of a chirping bird, one marked with a brown camera icon to name but a few. On the ground in front of you, you notice a number of objects -

1) A painted stick with a light coloured end

2) A recording device

3) A signed autograph of your favourite actor David Duchovny.

Enter the building with the chirping blue bird and store the shiny silver key. Seems useful.

<You head towards the building with a large blue bird on it and enter>

FLASHBACK --------------------------------------------------------------
You snap out of the catatonic state you had fallen into whilst staring at the strange flowing stream. Looking around you see the forest has grown into a buzzing metropolis. There is a robot standing nearby and some other holographic people whom you recognise as fellow philosophy island shipmates.
You take it on yourself to pick up a strange silver key you see on the ground and go and check out what's inside the building with the blue bird marking.

<Exit Building>

'Oh.' you think 'Is that all?? I get it though. Pretty dissapointing.'

<examine silver key>
www.artbeads.com/enlarge.html?…
It's a very ornate looking shiny silver key. I guess now you need to find a lock.

<look around>
Wait a minute. You do see something interesting nearby to the large tower with the blue bird. It's a gigantic golden statue of a gargoyle.
Somehow the gargoyle looks like the epitome of everything that is evil.
You shudder at what purpose it has, or how it got there.

You should sell this to Hollywood.

Before you have time to make a decision somebody walks past and picks up the silver key on the ground. You better get in quick if there's going to be any items left.

"You should sell this to Hollywood"
You say to the person you were talking to.. (who for some reason has metamorphised into what you now recognise is a square robot of some kind).
It seems that whilst you were unconscious there have been some pretty strange changes on philosophy island. Last thing you remember you were staring at a stream, after coming out of the forest of history. But...Wow!!! ..looks like a whole bunch of machines have been busy cutting down the forest of history and putting up a new veritable metropolis of strange buildings and other metal monoliths. 'You already are in Hollywood' the robot replies using it's Morgan Freeman voice codex 'this is the most magic of places, where all your desires are built out of the magic of the holly tree. Welcome to Hollywood. Where all your dreams come true. I'll be your guide. Where would you like to go next'.

Standing around the clearing you can also see the holograms of a few of your aquaintances who reside on philosophy island, suddenly you realise you are also a hologram. 'How strange' you think to yourself.

When I saw the words mushroom and trip I had a different idea

So did I. I just thought "Couldn't people just watch where they're walking to avoid tripping on the mushrooms? How big are these things, anyway?"

I dunno, the mushrooms that pop up on my lawn can get pretty in-the-way sometimes.

You say to the person you were talking to.. (who for some reason has metamorphised into what you now recognise is a square robot of some kind).
It seems that whilst you were unconscious there have been some pretty strange changes on philosophy island. OH.... now you know why. You're wearing some kind of virtual reality glasses.
<Take off glasses>
Damn. You can't seem to get them off. Last thing you remember you were staring at a stream of some kind. Then you were talking to some of your friends from super phone reality world. Now it seems your stuck in super phone reality world and you can't get back to the normal world. SPRW is a great way to keep in contact with friends, but its pretty boring on the whole, all grids and short non informative pieces of text and teleportation links to random places in second world.

The parasitic moustache life-form is now in control. You have become a doomed slave to live out forever the ambitions of this peer led fashion victim moustache.

'you went to sleep too soon and missed the really good part of the trip.'

...You say to the person you were talking to.. (who for some reason has metamorphised into what you now recognise is a cubish robot of some kind).
It seems that whilst you were unconscious there have been some pretty strange changes on philosophy island. Everything has turned hypercoloured, but then...maybe that's just the effect of the strange mushroom you've just eaten.
<Suddenly you have an incredible epiphany.>
The mushroom is the gateway to pure consciousness. The robot you are talking to is your external ego. The very 'yin' to your 'yang' here to guide you into infinity on this strange trip you are on called 'life'....
<Have feeling of slight nausea>
It is at this point, that you realise that you are not the result of pure willpower, that you are completely at the mercy of your surroundings. You are not the director of the world you inhabit, rather every action of free will you partake in is completely dependent on what the environment supplies you, and what other personalities will permit you.
<look around>
The primary change to the island is that everything around you seems to have gotten a lot smaller. The forest of history is now just a small patch of broccoli sized foliage at your feet. Next to it are miniature cities from all over the world. A whole cosmopolis of vibrant tiny cultures all at your fingertips. The only thing that isn't smaller is that gigantic mushroom towering like an ancient monolith behind you, some phantasmic flora that somehow holds magical access to hidden dimensions. 'What strange alien diety wields power or influence over you by consumption of this bizzarre fungus?' you think to yourself.

Perhaps the answer to that question is available to you if you can just make sense of the various pieces of the puzzle scattered all about this island.
<Look at ground>
You think you can just make out the tiny avatars of the holograms of your friends among those tiny cities. There are also some objects lying around.
1) An encyclopedia that contains the information about everything ever
2) A magic lamp
3) A clock shaped like a large puzzle piece
4) A large, black, oblong shaped monolith

2) Pick up magic lamp

<You pick up the magic lamp and give it a rub.>

A holographic image appears inside the lamp. The image seems to change with every thing you are thinking. At the moment you are thinking about the mushroom you just ate - this is mimicked by the hologram.

Staring at the mushroom is making you hungry. As your thoughts change the holographic image on the magic lamp begins to change. First to a hamburger, then to some French fries, then to a piece of Sashimi.

You look on the bottom of the lamp and it says 'Property of Google Towers'... as you begin to think about the large tower, a large gust of coloured smoke pours out of the lamp covering everything around you. Suddenly you are inside of a virtual reality hologram of the inside of the Google Towers building.

<Look around google towers>

Looking around you, you see hundreds of people scanning through holographic images on magic lamps. To the North there are thousands more people assembling magic lamps, and to the South there are thousands more still sorting the large data base of magic lamp content source files into large databases.

There is a nerdish looking bear with thick framed glasses standing nearby.

<Talk to bear>
'If you're looking for work i'm afraid you'll have to get on the waiting list. I was on the waiting list for five years then I got a job polishing the lamps. After that I moved up to designing content and software for the lamps holographic display, then I moved up to store manager selling the lamps, until finally I got this job supervising data management for the lamp industry!! It's a great job but the industry is very competitive.'

<Ask bear about data storage for the lamps>
'...The lamps contain pretty much all the information in the world. The information on the lamps goes to the...'
Suddenly a darkly cloaked individual peeks out from behind a curtain and whispers 'Shhhhh!!!!'. A badge on his cloak identifies him as deputy of the 'shadow police of the inter-sphere'.
'The information is very secure...' the bear finishes.

<Ask bear about secret of the magic lamps power>
The bear rubs the magic lamp and a holographic image appears.
www.backgroundsy.com/file/prev…
'Magnets...' The bear whispers through his hand 'The secret power of the magic lamps is magnetism! That's the force that keeps the entire universe together! But you must promise not to tell anybody.'

<Stop talking to bear>

Without your even noticing the magic lamp has enveloped you in it's powerful holographic mist and you now seem to be inside the building marked with a large 'F'

<Look around>
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8Rgje…
At first you thought you were inside the building but now you realise that it's not a building at all. In fact it is the centre of a large hall of mirrors. Actually the mirrors are not mirrors they are windows, billions of windows. In each window you see the avatar of somebody in the world. Next to their avatar are stacks of information and data about them. These large clumps of data are growing and growing by the second.

You decide to leave this place. You feel super creepy like a pervert staying in this voyeristic hell.
<Exit Building F>

You are back in the clearing near the city on philosophy island. Everything seems to have changed again here. All the holograms of your friends you saw around before seem to be hiding. And there is something else here, a strange monument has been built in the middle of the clearing with ancient Roman columns, and a large pyramid on top of it.

<Something buzzes in your pocket>
How strange, the large black monolith that was once standing in the clearing is now miniaturised and in your pocket. You take it out of your pocket and look at the screen. Oh lord! It's all those damn windows from the 'F' building. There is no escape!

<teleport>

It seems that the magical mist from the lamp has enveloped you again and now you are inside the tower marked 'F'
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8Rgje…

Looking around you realise that it isn't really a tower at all but a kind of panopticon of millions of windows. Through each window you see a human being tapping away on their computer. With each second tons of data, information and images are being loaded up into the 'F' data storage system.

You feel extremely voyeristic gazing into the windows of all the people in the world. Kind of like a pervert who hangs out in public toilets or near school grounds. You decide to leave.

<Exit building>
You are back in the forest again but something feels different. something buzzes in your pocket. You reach in and pull out a miniature black monolith which has appeared in your pocket. Looking at the screen you see that the hall of windows has followed you. Everywhere you go you are a filthy voyeur now. Is there any escape?

Suddenly you notice something strange at the bottom of google towers and the 'F' building. A hideous looking golden gargoyle. It seems to be staring right at you. What on earth does it want?
You wish you'd never rubbed this damn lamp. It's been nothing but a curse. You want out of the whole damn game!!!
