Are christians persecuted?

The fact that "under god" isn't always used in the pledge of alliegence, and the fact that some courts aren't putting up the 10 commandments and the fact that people are saying "happy holiday" instead of "merry christmas"  (Which is a pagan holiday anyway) and the fact that public schools can't force students to pray and the fact that congress doesn't open in prayer in "jesus's" name....
DON'T MAKE YOU A PERSECUTED GROUP

Now here's an example of actual discrimination against Christians.

If you are offended by another persons prayer... Then shut up, nobody cares. Dont' go complain about it. These kids can pray if they want to. Who cares if some satanist goes and complains.

This man was expressing his free speech.

So yes, christians are persecuted to an extent. But not much more than most other groups. Gays seem to be the number one group that persecute christians, but then again, I'm sure many others do. Plus, Muslims have experienced persecutions as well. In France, they banned the burka (which I think is a mobile tent that strips a womans freedom of expression), however, I support the right of women to wear them.

I hate seeing women wearing those things, being forced to hide their beauty and thinking her entire body is something that's inappropriate, but I support any woman who would do that, cause it's their freedom. My opinion on it being sexist doesn't matter

Liberals wanna strip freedom from everybody. Christians are of course big targets... Most of them are conservative and don't like abortion or homosexuality, so of course liberals hate them. And of course Christians aren't the only targets. Liberals will treat atheists like crap if they disagree with them.

Basically, yes they are, but not to the extent they'd like you to believe they are.

Yes, Christians are persecuted. Just not in the U.S. Or most of Europe.

Not yet anyway.

From a statistical standpoint, Christians are no more persecuted than any other group.  The reason that it can appear that they are getting more of it is simply a matter of population.  In places where the persecution is taking place, Christians just happen to out-number the non-Christians receiving the same persecutorial treatment.

You may want to look outside "western civilization" to understand what is being referenced.

'But not much more than most other groups.'
Syria- Christians crucified and tortured by muslims because they weren't muslims.

France banned burka cause it's illegal to have your face covered (muslims are responsible for the majority of crimes there [and basically wherever they appear])

And muslims are killed in other places because they're muslim. That sadly doesn't hold up as a counter-argument.

Example? I haven't heard of a wild bunch of Christian savages performing a holocaust on muslims lately.

As a Deity I can't help but notice the disproportion between discrimination against Christians and muslims.

Not to mention islam introduces an extremely violent ideology, resulting in discrimination against other religions in islam-controlled countries, like Malaysia, Iran, or Saudi Arabia. In some countries, you can be sentenced to death for being in possession of other holy books.

So yeah, it does hold up as a counter-argument, especially coming from a Deity.

Yes and no.  No matter what your beliefs are—whether religious, politics or whatever—there's always someone out there who could cause trouble for you.

Sharing your opinion on things, or questioning someone's beliefs, is NOT persecution.  Being boiled alive or having your head cut off would be persecution.  Or to a lesser extent, being bullied.

I live in the United States.  My country is about 80% self-proclaimed Christian, if I'm not mistaken.  What's interesting is that self-proclaimed Christians often persecute each other over differing beliefs!  This happens in other religions, too.

Can't we all just along?

''Gays seem to be the number one group that persecute christians'' Seriously??
There are hundred of hate crimes commited against LGBT+ every year, not the other way around. I do however agree with some points, but what you said about homosexuality is completely wrong. They are a heavily persecuted group, so being angry against their agressors isn't persecution, it's just common sense.
Coming from a muslim family, I also hate it when women wears the burqua, etc, etc, but if they want to wear it, who am I to judge? It becomes shitty when it's forced, which happen way too much.

In different countries yes.

Most of those 'different countries' persecute way more groups than just Christians, though. Are Christians persecuted? Totally. More than pagans, Jews or secular humanists/freethinkers? Not particularly.

Oh no, atheists exist and express their non-belief. Persecution! :crying:

Exactly, they aren't persecuted, they want to persecute others and push their beliefs on society.
FlipswitchMANDERING's avatar
yes, they are 'not persecuted'

Their heads must just be falling off in Syria, not getting chopped off.
K-9-6-9's avatar
Do you really believe this?
TheImpossiblePast's avatar
I'll no longer believe it when they no longer prove it's reality.

I'll say right now that I'm not proud of everything religion has done. Some of it has been wrong.

But not all.

Like the Crusades, the Holocaust, The Babylonian Exile, The enslavement of Jews in Ancient Egypt, the persecution of Christians in Rome, the extermination of 98%+ of Native Americans from Europeans, the many wars involving Arabs and Israelies, etc.

Note(I am a Catholic but I am not proud of the crusades or the way religion is used for a lot of the major wars in the past and the present)

Well, the Holocaust was really started by some idiot who enjoyed child pornography and wanted to annihilate the Jews and Russians. Only Russia was a bit too big. Oops for Hitler.
But it is true that Hitler said he was a Christian and led many people to believe he was just "winning the war" and "doing his job". Many did not know about the camps for the Jews. If you ever watch "The Boy In the Striped Pajamas", you'll notice how they all think they are just winning a war. That they are in the right. Except the ones that knew and had cold hearts. They wanted power.
