In a nutshell, I believe in God, but:


  • I don't think he cares what we do with ourselves or others. In fact, I think people assuming they know what God would want is a bajillion shades of arrogant.

  • I don't follow the Bible to the letter, because I realize that the version we have access to today is a corruption of a corruption of a corruption of a corruption [...] of the Hebrew Tanakh. And each individual corruption was written for the express purpose of "reinterpreting" a few rules to fit the concurrent ruler's agenda. That said, the Bible is still chock full of great morals, and the fundamentalist atheists really should stop accentuating the book's negatives (of which there are plenty) whilst ignoring the positives (also of which there are plenty).

That's actually really neat. :) I like the way you describe things--a lot better, in my opinion, than many forms of Christianity act today. I'm atheist.

Atheist - but I don't think disbelief should be labelled. There's no name for people who don't believe in unicorns, or for those that don't believe 2Pac is still alive. There are just some things in life that you believe, and others you don't. Ah well. :shrug:
