How do non-christians think about Christians?

:iconfonscripta:
Just a question for everyone who does not believe in God the father, God the sun and God the holy ghost.

Does the Christian-religion bother you?
How do you think about Christians, do you accept their religion or do you think it's stupid?

I'm just curious what the people think ;)

Hmmm... I find that most Christians are just people, and that they haven't actually given any thought to their religion. The ones who do either end up losing their faith, going a little insane, or just shutting down their brain when thinking about their faith, and thus acting a little insane.

Most Christians are harmless, living by Humanist philosophies and calling them Christian. I only dislike/mistrust the ones that are pushy and forceful with their religion. They tend to be a little insane and just broken mentally. The Charismatics especially I hate. They're people who want to destroy personal liberties and the free practice of religion and turn America into a theocracy. They also are doing their best to limit access to education and healthcare, because to gain more followers they need everyone poor, desperate, and uneducated. But, they are vastly in the minority. They just happen to be wealthy and think that the ends justify the means.

So stupid? No. Apathetic, yes.

I think it's lame to depend on a silly belief to feel good. And if you impose that on me I might be unkind to you in the hope that you'll stop obliverating me.

I don't care what people believe in. As long as they don't force it on to others like it's the truth that everybody should have the same belief system as them. It's just annoying to see them forcing religion on schools and running around protesting homosexuals. Yeah, I know not all are this way but you get the point. Really, religion should be more of a personal subject.

I live by a "you leave me alone i leave you alone" mentality so i could care less their views.... though sometimes i wonder about their practices. An example: when taking a high school biology class several of the religious folks were upset that they had to take it. At the time i interpreted that as "science is evil" but now i can kinda see the doubt. I mean really, the only reason i don't "believe" in religion is only because i "believe" in science.... to be honest, with how often scientific discoveries change/disrupt the current scientific theories I can see how people are skeptical -and cling to other thoughts/traditions.

It honestly depends on the person but in general I think that religious people are just fearful and/or silly. Some might be hostile and try to shove it in your face though.

They should work on becoming more rational. Also, they should be aware of some of the dangers of believing in something that doesn't exist. For exampe, using the Bible as a basis for morality can cause them to have a very contradictor and arbitrary sense of morality. They should also stop trying to bully children into being religious.

It has the capacity to cause great and wonderful things to happen - charities, kind behaviour in people, etc. Most of the Christians that I have met or known in person have all been wonderful people. They have their flaws, but they genuinely try to do good by others and to follow the less unsavoury teachings of their religion.

It also is able to cause great harm. It is contradictory, those who represent it in the public eye often do so in a negative light, its rules are often followed or not followed depending on what political or social agenda is being pushed at the time (such as with allowing same sex marriage - people claim that the Bible says it's wrong, but tend to forget that they're probably breaking most of the other laws that are laid out in the Bible). It's used in a way that encourages ignorance, hatred, and intolerance.

In all, I see Christianity as a double-edged sword. It has its good points, but it's also got its bad. I have a particular distaste for the religion myself, and I have no shame in saying that, but it doesn't mean that I want it destroyed or that I hate Christians. :)

The religion? Yes. I don't agree with some portions of what it says, or the various interpretations of it. But some of my closest friends are christian, and they're all awesome. I look at the individual and not the religion as a whole, though.
