Too stupid to put my new pics into folders/dealing with unnerving favourite dropdown

Can anybody help me?
I've been trying to sort my new photos into a folder ("Winter"), but if I pick them up and pull them over the folder and try to drop them there, in the gallery, they don't end up in there.
The folder's still empty.
Instead I somehow managed to drop some of them in the suddenly appearing dropdown menu of my favourites. And I kinda can't get them outa there anymore. xDD
So, basically, I got two questions:
1. How do I get my art into the folder? (Even though I did it before, dunno what I'm doing wrong.)
2. Is there any way to switch off the Favourites-dropdown?

When in your gallery, click on the edit page and you will see little pencils on top right of every pic. Click there to sort.

Appears it should work.
I'm getting an error message, that it couldn't be moved, though...
Suppose it's a technical problem, then.
Maybe I'll delete and reopen said folder or sth...
