Trying to get into the Holiday Spirit, but MAY need some help

It's ALREADY December 6th and YET...my family has YET to get a Christmas Tree & put up decorations. I've watched ONLY ONE Christmas Special so far (National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation on DVD) & have listened to ONLY ONE Xmas song so far (Christmas Vacation)...Any tips on how to get into that Holiday Spirit? It's been because of rainy weather and High School that has kept me off the Holidays so far.

ANY HOLIDAY TIPS WOULD BE GREAT, you guys! :santa:

Take a dump on the doorstep of the house in your neighborhood with the most lights up.

I don't remember the last time I was in the Christmas spirit. :la:

Makes for an awkward holiday when your mom wants you to smile for all sorts of shitty family photos though.

Christmas lights are what do it for me. Try finding some nutty displays.

Christmas isn't until Dec. 25th. :D

Sure, people like to celebrate before then, but if you don't, it's not a big deal.

It's sad, I haven't, either. Though I did finally go out and buy an artificial tree. I figure if I'm going to spend money on a tree, it might as well be one we can re-use.

We usually go out and cut one off of the property but after almost 20 years it's slim pickings, we always say we're going to dig up a bunch of the little ones and plant them by the studio so we'll remember to go out there and shape them, but we never do.

Play some Christmas music, that can help. Also give some spare change to Salvation Army or whatever charity is in your local area.

I've been makeing plans to do community service, and I'm already in the holiday spirit. Maybe you should donate or something like that.

It's only the 6:th of December and you complain about that you haven't got a tree yet? In my family we've never got a tree until... like 20:th December, and no a days they sometimes get it at the 23:d. Even starting do decorate before about half December has gone seems a bit too ambitious.

Last year I barley got any Christmas things up, and this year I'll probably start decorating the 14:th or so.

Movies? If you want to watch them, do. There is always some Christmas movie on TV now a days, isn't it? Me and my boyfriend have only watched Gremlings this year. Actually, that's one of the few Christmas movies that both liked.
Songs? Spotify has plenty of Christmas playlists, just subscribe to one of them and then your Christmas spirit will rise!

Forget waiting on your family, decorate now. You can always hang up the seasonal stuff (like stockings, etc) without the tree. Eventually someone will clue in that it's time to set up the tree and start working on it.

If you want, you can take even more initiative and call around for the best trees at a good deal then casually say, "X store has a good deal on trees, let's all go on Saturday afternoon and check them out!" (or whenever you think it'll be most convenient for the family.)

G'luck!

Why do you care about "getting into the spirit"? You either are in the spirit, or are not. Just because you want to conform to societal traditions? There's no way to force it.

I don't understand? You want to get into the Christmas spirit?

Christmas is merely annoying to me now. I mean it's just for the younger generations to enjoy. It' very commercial Christmas, it's about money and more money. There's nothing wrong with the magic thing Christmas comes across as to children let them have their fun. I hate Christmas songs especially when they replay over and over.

As for tips, I don't know. Spend time with your family help them decorate. It's about giving not receiving so do something nice for someone and make their day. Just be jolly Christmas is mean't to be a happy time.
