Write a good all-around job application and a short CV and go on a part-time job searching spree! That's the first thing you could do, and I'd also recommend what Glori305 said: Put up a poster or two at your local shopping places with a "hey, I'm this-and-this old and would like to babysit your children. I work for this-and-this wage, and are free at this-and-this time"... It's worked really well for those of my friends who've done that (:
I made more money babysitting kids than I made at my first job, on a per hour basis.
It is not steady or predictable work, but now is a great season to get into it, as lots of people need babysitters for holiday stuff, and so their "regular" babysitter is probably going to be very busy.
Just put fliers up in the local grocery store etc.
I understand your issue dear. I'm facing this myself and I'm looking for a job, but due to my age I never get accepted. My mother is working, our step father lives in new york and is working and all my siblings are in school and too young to work. We're wanting to move, but there is no chance of it happening if we can barely feed ourselves.
I asked them I told them I would give them the 20-something money I had saved up but they said no...I don't know why but I'm really scared. I think I was unconsciously saving this money in case something bad happened, I guess.
Until you are old enough to have your own bills I don't think you would know that $20 is not going to do squat in paying them. Maybe instead of money you could help more around the house so that your dad can concentrate on finding a job. Of course your support would be appreciated. Sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. My ex fiance stuck me with some bills from a joint checking account that went bust. I had to take a 2nd job to start paying them off. You just gotta do what you have to. Maybe you could take some of your art to a gallery and put them on consignment? Maybe host an art class and charge a $25 fee to teach people how to do your type of art? Have a garage sale? I don't know, use your imagination.
I'm 100% Positive your parents will pull through and your family will be alright. Though, if you really feel the need too, I like the above comment about babysitting. Maybe go to a library (or school) and print an ad if you have free time?
