Apartments & Cats - Need some Cat Advice

I am posting this here because it is technically a help with life issue...as these two cats of mine are my family and I am having issues with them.

I recently adopted a second cat who seems to be having some issues with the litter box... ....She'll use it but she won't finish, in other words she ends up leaving the litter box before finishing and then the house gets littered in kitty poo.... It's almost like she doesn't even realize she still needs to go and the poo falls out.

I've taken her to the vet and the vet said that there are no problems with her physically...got her her shots and everything. I'm at a loss as to what I can do to try and train her to use it properly...it has to stop.

Also, is it normal for cats to sneeze a lot after getting their shots? She seems to be sneezing a lot and it worries me. Can't seem to reach the vet, though, to ask them.

If I can't figure out a way to help this new kitty...I will probably have to get rid of her. I really, really, don't want to do that.

It could be that she's stressed. One of my cat's litter box habits change when she's stressed. Also, how many litter boxes do you have? When my family first got our cats, one of them wouldn't use the litter box much (the one who gets stressed); despite daily cleaning, we figured we should try getting two, one for each cat. The problem persisted. My dad talked to some vets he knew, and they suggested two boxes for each cat. So, now we have four uncovered litter boxes, and the problem is gone (except, as I said, when one kitty is stressed). As for the sneezing--wish I could tell you. Hopefully your kitty get better soon and that you can get in contact with the vet!

I got a second one...problem persist though. Right now I have cali locked in a bathroom by herself with her own food / water dish and litter box. Cali got better with the sneezing...but apparently she had a kitty cold....and now favewit is sneezing and having breathing problems.

I took off the lid to our litter box but it doesn't seem to be making a difference....also, she's now meowing constantly and wondering around the house aimlessly. I can't figure out why all the crying.... She also has seemed to stop using the litter box entirely. I'm about to give up on her and just give her back. I like her, I've spent money on her, but this is stressful ._.

If she is not peeing/pooping *at all* then you have a medical emergency, and she is meowing in distress :/ Maybe she is just hiding her poo, but if she isn't going period, it could be anything from constipation to a life-threatening intestinal blockage.

oh she's peeing / pooping...she's just not doing it in the litter box now. Well, peeing she is doing in the litter box, but not so much the pooping.

it may be a behavioral thing. Ask you vet about a product called 'Zylkene' its not a drug, its more like a supplement. It a capsule that tastes like milk and imitates the mother cats hormones and helps calm cats down. I work in a veterinary clinic and have seen it work well with other cats and their potty issues

Hmmm, you could try putting a few other litter boxes around the house, or giving her one that is enclosed (with a cover) to see if that helps. She may feel more comfortable in one that is covered.

I bit the bullet and spent some money today...bought a second litter box. Going to try putting it in our bathroom and see how that goes. They are both covered.

Hmmmmm that's a weird problem.. cats usually have a problem with seeing a poo exposed, they know it's meant to be buried. I'm thinking that if she's sneezing, she's having trouble smelling, so it doesn't register to her what she's done..
that or she's eating a lot of hair so it's hanging out as a chain or something.
