learning German...

I am currently learning Japanese (for the last 2 years I'd say) and it's really hard, like learning any new language but it just really doesn't want to sink in. Even when I listen to music, it never sticks. However, when listening to German songs, I remember the words even if I don't know what they're saying...I am French and I've been speaking English as well since I'm five years old, would learning German be easier? For people who have German as a first language, second language, I know learning any language is difficult but would it be maybe a little easier than Japanese?

Also, I live in Canada, would German be a useful 3rd language to have?

I would definitedly say YES! I think Japanese is one of the most difficult (Asian) languages to learn. If you're suitable with speaking English German should be quite easy for you to learn. At least much easier than Japanese :)

german was once my first language... i can hardly speak it now, one day i would like "re-learn" or "brush up" on my german


all i can say is, that maybe a vacation there, and talking to the locals(or some one german wherever you may live) might help ^^;

I can't speak either languages, but I do know that German is A LOT easier than Japanese when you know English. The alphabet is the same, and the grammatical structure is similar.

I took german for 3 years, it's easy but it does have it's complicated moments. I assure you, its like 8000 times easier than japanese.
