So im a 21yo Marine stationed in Norfolk, Va. I've been in for a little over 3 years have 2 years left and for the last 2 any document where I've had to state my religion, I have put Jedi. I've always loved Star Wars and haven't belonged to a religion since I was 8. So as a joke instead of just putting N/A in the box I started putting Jedi. It's in my medical records now and on my permenant records for my career. This doesnt bother me at all. This past friday I was ordered to my chaplain's office (which is a free shrink in the military pretty much) and from what I could gander from his questions he was trying to see how strongly I believed I was a Jedi....let's just say he soon realized I was strong with the Force and able to argue the system of the Jedi beliefs in a logical and respectable way and saying I live by the code, reciting it even, and what not. I soon started to believe the bullshit I was saying playing the part in a cascading tidal wave of awesome nerdom. This is too funny to stop. I might start wearing my lightsaber hilt clipped to my belt. As i leaned over his desk to shake his hand goodbye(and to envade his personal space) I saw his notes and one part clearly read "SNM (Said Name Marine)may be losing touch with reality." OK I could fathom why he could come to that conclusion. But, How is Jedi a rediculous set of moral codes to follow while there is a large group of Scientology followers (Navy Personell) working down the hall? It's not like I think the events of the Star Wars Universe have ever taken place in any actual reality. So my question is, should I risk my career and harsh persacution for the sake of Jedi Equal Rights? Or repent and just go back and put N/A in all the boxes?
and yes even my dog tags say Jedi on them...

Vegetables are alot like buttsecks...If you're forced to have it as a kid, you're not gonna like it as an adult.
Girls are alot like squaring numbers...if they're under 13 just do them in your head.
The Force is my ally (not the dark creepy kind but the friend in a fight kind. the correct spelling alludes me at the momment) and if they do discarge me I could always sue them for religious prejudice once i get out.

While your response shows great wisdom, it doesnt take into account that i don't believe Star Wars is real at all and is clearly fictional. and the belief structure that is present in this fictional universe is just as sound and a little more sane than other belief systems in other fictional story such as scientology, christianity, etc etc

Because the Force isn't real. It's fine to say you follow the Jedi code, which is a pretty decent set of moral rules. But when you start going on about the Force and carrying a lightsaber, people are going to think you're delusional. Probably because at that point, you pretty much are.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
