I'm unsure if I'm putting this in the right place. I appreciate that this isn't a help with homework forum, but I'm having trouble finding anyone who can help me. I'm currently taking a foundation degree in art and design, and I'm doing a project on depression. I wondered if there was anyone on here who has been diagnosed with depression who could answer my questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Well, here are the questions:
1. Have you ever been diagnosed with Depression? If so, what type?
2. Do you receive any kind of treatment? If yes, how effective is it?
3. Does the disorder affect your daily routines?
4. How does depression make you feel? ("Depressed" being the obvious answer It would be good if you could expand on that)
5. Imagine you were to paint a visual image of depression... what would you paint?
Thanks in advance to anyone who answers!

I have never but my best friends is. I don't know what kind of depression she is treated but when she was in it she drow different kinds of trees and flowers/ She is a painter and designer.
Welcome to my world sucker. Firstly I don't know what type, but they stuck me on prozac. Now on something far better in tablet form. Depression usually makes good artists, and poor philosiphers.
Here is a picture which perfectly depicts depression/ life:
1. Have you ever been diagnosed with Depression? If so, what type? Yes, but I'm not too sure what type actually. I don't really care either, but yeah. Post Traumatical Stress stuff involved anyway.
2. Do you receive any kind of treatment? If yes, how effective is it? Therapist. Doesn't work for me, AT ALL. Doctor offered meds, but I got scared of that, how lame is that.
3. Does the disorder affect your daily routines? It definitely used to and I couldn't really do anything at the time, but I'm coping now.
4. How does depression make you feel? ("Depressed" being the obvious answer It would be good if you could expand on that) Pretty much like nothing matters. Not just me, just nothing. That there's no point in anything and it makes me wonder why the hell we're even here.
5. Imagine you were to paint a visual image of depression... what would you paint? How cliche, but, lots of black. And.. I don't know..
-- Live right now. Just be yourself. It doesnt matter if it's good enough for someone else.
1. Have you ever been diagnosed with Depression? If so, what type? A couple of years ago. I don't know what type though. They never really told me much about it. I actually didn't know I was once 'depressed' until a couple of weeks ago. Of course I always suspected it, but I never really knew for sure.
2. Do you receive any kind of treatment? If yes, how effective is it? Just some good 'ol talking to a therapist. It didn't really help me, and I refused to take any medication.
3. Does the disorder affect your daily routines? I'm not depressed anymore, but at the time it really did. I couldn't really do anything, I was usually too emotionally drained to even get out of bed, and if I got out of bed I still wouldn't do much. Going to school was extremely difficult for me, it was really tiring to be around people all the time, and pretend to be happy, just so they wouldn't start asking questions.
4. How does depression make you feel? ("Depressed" being the obvious answer It would be good if you could expand on that). At the time I felt extremely empty. I didn't care about anything, I didn't want to care. I wanted to be alone, invisible even. I felt emotionally tired. The slightest thing could have me burst into tears.
5. Imagine you were to paint a visual image of depression... what would you paint? A withered black rose in a field of beautiful red roses.

I haven't been exactly diagnosed exactly, just by friends and I shall try to help ya :3
1. Have you ever been diagnosed with Depression? If so, what type? As I said, friends did it and they said it were mostly just the kind of feeling lonely and hated which wasn't true.
2. Do you receive any kind of treatment? If yes, how effective is it? Well, my treatment were to talk to a really close friend time to time and parents, which helped me out quite much. Was really effective
3. Does the disorder affect your daily routines? I still get depressed time to time but that is mostly mood swings of hormones then I have no reason that I am depressed, but it can affect sometimes.
4. How does depression make you feel? ("Depressed" being the obvious answer It would be good if you could expand on that). Well, really sad and it feels like you have lost everything
5. Imagine you were to paint a visual image of depression... what would you paint? I think a person that has his/her head buried in his/her arms and has a chain locked to their heart

Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
