well we have this project about poems and I choose this one;
Autumn sonnet Catherine Marshall
Here where the wind sends out its warning call In final burst of beauty gaily sung, And earth on tiptoe stands enthralled At such mad revelry of old and young; Here late goldrod lifts its head, arrayed In silent eloquence by dusty ways, Like prisons where the ssummer sun is stayed To add sweet warmth to autumn's shortening days.
And bright leaves dance before the drunken blast Like scattered husks of demon gods' desires, In wanton, festive merriment-the-last- Before drab winter, earth's last toll requires.
So,too, leaps high and red my soul's brave light Defying still the endlessness of night.
--- ok thats the poem I just dont kinda get whats the theme of this poem and the meaning of it, I think its kinda like the author is dying and its her last autumn so she's anxious to wait for it.
but anyone have anymore idea it wwill really help me a lot.. and if someone really knows some good pictures to put in my slide show about the poem..
Poetry is a pretty subjective experience, I'm sure you could get away with coming up with your own interpretation - that may actually be the point of the exercise, so go with your hunch.

Vilified by vectors and crucified by calculus. Math has made me a pariah.
For me its about the world at its best, it speaks of the end of seasons, Autumn itself & leading up to winter. its almost in preperation for things to come, knowing it's going to be a harsh time but nesserary never the less.
much like life itself.
Remember also Marshall's writings are of a very religious nature, so faith has to play a massive part in all her works.

Well, you can look at the lexical sets of time, and of religion. Those help to show some of the main themes of the poem. The fact that the poem is written in sonnet form shows a theme of love, so you could look at how the poet is expressing love for the moment. Or the poet could be bending the rules slightly, becuase the form is the shakespearean sonnet, and they are meant to be composed of iambic pentameter, and that falls apart somethings.
I'm not analysing any more. I have an exam of analysing on friday, don't wanna do any more. But hope that helped.
