Well, We at Deviant art as much as anyone anywhere else know of something called Emo. Some of us love it. Some of us hate it. I think all these views are certainly valid.
Emo has been around long enough so that we all know a thing or two about it. During my time seeing the web, I've come to see Emo as a cheap trend that markets to kids who want to be Unique, but unique like everyone else. Either way, I see more and more people hopping on to the 'I hate Emos!!!' band wagon and more and more disclaimers where people feel they need to make sure they are not Emo or anything of the sort (though, in my opinion, they obviously are).
It's time we all have an honest discussion of what originality is, what being unique is and how the Emo trend may have made it it more difficult or easier. We must also address whether or not the 'I hate Emos' Craze is a fad just like Emo itself. And finally, I think we need to take a look at what Emo has turned us, as 'Deviants', into and how we should look at it, perhaps through a more objective lens, and what it does to our struggle to find originality in a culture where so many things are recycled for better or for worse.

Tight jeans, long emo hair, tight shirts, converse shoes. I'm talking about the emo style. I'm not gonna call a kid emo, but I'm sure gonna call his style emo. Just because I might wear baggy jeans, doesn't mean I like gangsta style. Duuude, I'm saying that someone isn't something based on what they wear, their style is defined, but their character is a unique individual.
what i really hate is that a lot of people think that being "Emo" means cutting your wrists. i dont think this is true because to me being emo means to be Emotional.
I personally do cut my wrists because it takes stress away in my opinion. But the one friend i told immediatly labeled me as being "Emo" and decided to stop being my friend. (wth.)
In some cases it is just a fad, but there are actually true emo people out there who hate it.
So.. is this a topic for debate, or do you really need Help With Life?

I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
