Underage Nudity on DA

MyPantsAreMissing Featured By Owner Jun 13, 2007
Hello! Like seeing nude 16 year olds online? Hmmm...that turn you on? Rawr! Well stop it you pervert! It's not right.

Let me tell you guys a little story. I was on DA at school the other day and when I logged in I noticed a picture of a a naked girl in a chair. I am only a I clicked it, obviously. I glanced at her gallery really quickly, cause I was at school and there were people around. She had many topless pictures and I left a naughty-ish comment on her page saying I'd be back to see her page when I got home (again...I am only a man).

When I got home and checked out her gallery again, I noticed her profile said she was only 16. I was perplexed. DA doesn't allow anyone under 18 to be depicted nude, it's not even up for argument and it shouldn't be. Of course she's from the UK and according to her, it is legal in the UK to post topless pictures of yourself at age 16. my knowledge, although DA is a universal site they're probably abiding by US laws and it's not it?

I don't know. Either way, those topless pics have been up for weeks now and I've contacted DA and reported some of her pictures and no action has been taken. These pics should be taken down right?

I know someone around here has got to have a little pull with what goes on here in DA. Are we allowing 16 year olds in the UK and Australia show themselves naked now? Will DA become a haven for internet predators and general perverts? Something must be done. I demand it.

I'd post a link to the offending Deviant, however I realize this is against the rules and I don't want to make her more popular. She's America, and people are seeing her naked. What's wrong with this picture? C'mon!!!

You can no longer comment on this thread as it was closed due to no activity for a month.

I know there is a fine line on this topic. How many naked pictures do we all have of ourselves when we are children in our parents' photo albums? The human form is art. If there is abuse or force against will of course it's not right but it doesn't make sense to only ever see pictures of naked adults!

Anyway, I am definitely over 18 and here are some artistic naked pictures [link]

Stop snitching!

You need to learn the difference between porn and nude art!

She's abiding by her country's laws, so there's nothing that DA should do. America isn't the world's foremost authority on who should be allowed the piviledge of publicized nudity.

She's not doing anything illegal.

She's not doing anything ethically unjust.

And you're a blatant hypocrite. "Waahh...DA's gonna become home to all the world's perverts!".....And who's the one browsing nude galleries? Ha! Hypocritical pervert.

Also, DA acknowledging British and Australian laws on age limits won't make it anymore an attraction for perverts than any British or Australian based site would.

Grow up.

Stop whinning.

i don't think this is such a big deal. first, the gap between 16 and 18 is not very large. second, the "i am only a man" comment isn't very redeeming in this situation that is supposedly being taken seriously, (which, in turn could suggest that those posing nude are perfectly capable and righteous in stating : "i am only human as well", and thus have the right and the ability to pose nude). i have not clicked on any nude ladies/children/whatever, but i know i can rely on members such as "mypantsaremissing" to find THEM ALL in his/her spare time at work/school/ in basement and notify me/others of their presence..(this alarm-ringing is certainly compensation for looking at it in the first place, no?)

I totally agree with you.

I'm from the UK, and I have never heard that it is legal to pose naked at the age of 16.
I dunno..

But yes, underage nudity needs to be stopped.
I've never seen any of the underage art myself, and I don't want to.
One thing I respect about this site is that pictures with nudity are allowed, and (most) people are responsible enough to know what is right and wrong about the nudity in the pictures, and the age of the model.

Unlike other sites DeviantArt doesn't have a bad repuation (not that I have heard of), and I think we need to keep that, and also protect our users from the dangers of the internet.

DeviantArt should look at any complaints to do with underage nudity should be dealt with as soon as possible. To not only protect the owners of the site, but to protect the users.

><;; Okay, I know there's a thing called "artistic nudity", but what that girl has in her gallery is not artistic nudity---she is merely putting up pics of herself for I think sexual pleasures or something. And she should know the risks of putting her nude self up on dA. There could be little kids roaming the sites and have their eyes damaged from seeing that >>;

Well, you didn't report it to the help desk till the 13th and it was promptly removed a short 2 hours after that. And you are correct, we do not tolerate underage nudity, but if it is not reported correctly it takes time to find it.
