I've been on da for almost four years, and have posted over 150 deviations, 90% of which are poetry. I have just under 9,000 pageviews. Compare that to an artist I came across yesterday, who has the same stats, but over 300,000 pageviews.
I'm sure fellow poets and prose writers are wondering why we don't get the recognition we deserve. As a writer, you have to carefully construct each line, think about the words, or just vent your feelings. In any case, you're baring some of your soul; idealogy; prose is a very personal thing. I'm not saying that someone who takes a photo or does an emoticon is entitled to less comments, favourites or pageviews. Artists on this website work very hard for recognition, we all do. I'm saying that writers deserve more. If this was an exclusive art site, there wouldn't BE any poetry categories avaliable! It's really hard to get noticed on da if you're a writer. A picture you can see. A poem you have to read. I think writers should have a better go.
If you disagree with me (as in, you think the standard of poetry promotion is fine on this site) that's okay. But if you're like me, and want more, come join the fight to be better recognised.
I think the problem lies in the fact that some people on DA have ADD (myself included) and therefore don't like to read lenghty poems, short ones are good for me. Anything longer than 9 lines is too much for my short attention span.
It's not exactly "us" that has to do the work. I think da should, too. There should be more of an emphasis on writers. But I agree with ~AdlerAugende, we should read more of each others work. Thanks for the comment
A brand new monthly article which showcases some of deviantART's finest equine artists, as well as recognizing the lesser-known but equally talented ones. Interviews, helpful tutorials and features can all be found here too! I hope you enjoy it.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
