I hide my activity because I already get crazy Notes all the time from random people who "want to be my friend because they think they have a close connection with me". The last thing I want is these people knowing every little thing I do D:. That, and I've been stalked before irl. Now I'm paranoid.
Feel better soon~ stay warm and get a lot of rest.
Because YouTube comments are quite possibly the most depressing thing on the internet. You get a few that aren't trolls, "thumbs up if X/Y/Z got you here," or jokes about the like/dislike bar, but they're so rare that they only serve to highlight the overall atmosphere of drooling idiocy.
Not really, sure those are common but there are plenty of other comments.
This girl however, used it as a social network and talked to a bunch of other Anime fans there. She removed all her channel comments because she didn't want people knowing who her friends were. She has an account on here and she does the same thing with the 'hide message' feature.
When you're looking for a job, you don't want potential employers knowing your activity on Deviant-Art, You-Tube, Face-Book, and any other website with a compound-name, haha.
Although everything in my activity would normally be considered neutral to an objective person, I know from experience not to perceive employers as "neutral"! Plus, they obviously wouldn't like reading that last sentence, haha!
haha, my hiding my activity has earned me the "Paranoid Hat" symbol from dA (upper right corner on my page, next to my llama that wears sunglasses & a bow-tie). OK...well, actually, I simply downloaded that from dA myself -- but it's funny just the same.
As for my YT account - I'm proud of it! So I would actually encourage employers to google my real name in order to find it. Even though none of the video's are mine, I consider the various Playlists that I have to be a collection of great videos from a multitude of genres.
Go check it out, when you're feeling better, and gimme your honest opinion....
