Blindplay.

Right, so there is a particular style of Let's Play that greatly infuriates me to no end.

As it turns out, I actually ENJOY when people on Youtube play games like they aren't total idiots, or at the least, have done some research and know what they're getting into.

Could someone explain to me why people enjoy jumping into blind experiences?

I don't really watch the whole let's play thing, but I'm quite liking the Yogscast minecraft stuff where they're making a giant jaffacake factory.

When I've read the title I was hoping for some obscure version of foreplay, borderlining on rape and hardcore BDSM.

I am highly disappointed.

It's entertaining if they can make progress and experience things alongside you. If they fumble around and get confused then it's not.

The only Let's Play that will ever be worth a damn is a Let's Play that's funny as hell. Since most games that are funny as hell to watch involve fucking with the player, it 100% defeats the purpose to research it and watch someone else's let's play about it.

99% of Let's Players aren't funny unscripted, anyway.

So we should start writing scripts?

It'd be better to record it then script the recording for the voice-over. A lot of people do that.

But I think it'd be even more effective to just start learning how to be funny without a script.

I find that post play commentary does often sound smoother, but most like to go for right in the action commentary.

Yeah, which is really too bad because most simply aren't very good at being interesting or funny in the action commentary.

When I want to try a game, I look for a more "serious" letsplay/commentary on it. That way I can do other things while getting most of what I want out of the game. When I look for entertainment while I eat, sew or for my evening routine, I watch PewDiePie, Azuritereaction or Cry. There's a situation for both types

I don't mind entertainment, or I wouldn't subscribe to Runaway Guys or Chuggaconroy. I want controlled chaos, not Swedish Ear Rape in a canned script.

I usually prefer them because then the person is surprised by things and you get to see genuine reactions to the situations within the game.

i wouldn't mind that if it was a horror game like amnesia, or similar games. if it's for other games such as mario or the legend of zelda, then reactions aren't necessary imo. :B

I can't imagine why I'd be watching someone play LoZ, but often if a game is horror or story based, I find it more interesting to see realistic reactions. But that being said, I haven't watched a Let's Play in many years anyways.

yeah, same here. i usually watch the lps of games i don't own to see if they're any good, but most of the time it's entertainment for me (or usually when i need a good nap).

I used to watch them because I didn't have to money to get a game, or I wasn't able to beat it myself for whatever reason. These days I just get the game and beat it myself one way or another.

I'll never understand how people can listen to Pewdiepie scream into a mic for 10-20 minutes. It was fun for a while, but that got old, fast.
