I read the comments in the link you provided, and oh... my... god. I can't believe what I'm reading. What an idiot she is. Acting all high and mighty, just because she's older??? What the fuck?! And let's not forget her "lovely" attempt to shut you up: "I have been since I was 12, I'm 35. Have a great day!" It's like she's saying that whoever is younger than her have no say in this matter! Oh wow. Just wow.
Yup, that's what they do. Block when they are proven to be idiots. I was blocked just now by some douche who I had caught stealing other people's photos. When I provoded good evidence that she had taken them and kept questioning her whenever she danced around the problem, she blocked me before I could answer her butthurt comment. .roll: Oh boy.
The reason wikipedia is looked down upon so much is because most people have no idea how to use it. Find something on wikipedia, go to the references. Look at the references. Quote references if they're good. You now have sources which are acceptable.
I think the person said witch when they meant to say Pagan, but even then, they don't seem to entirely understand the concept they're arguing to know about.
Also, you weren't entirely right, either, at least in that there are other interpretations of the definitions. The differentiation between pentagrams being written and pentacles being charms is one, but there are others. Examples are when a pentacle is pointed upwards and a pentagram is pointed downward, or that a pentagram is just a pentacle pointed either way when a circle is added, or vice versa. Also, in case you care for future reference to show off useless knowledge like I sometimes do, the symbol of Satanism is something else entirely, called a Sigil of Baphomet, which was made by LaVey, at least partly with the intent to mock Christian ideas about symbology. The problem is that it's subjective depending on the system(s) one learns from and follow(s), and there's no hard proof that any of them are the only right or wrong way to interpret them, outside of the pentagram not being a symbol of the devil.
As for the rest, when someone uses faulty information in an argument and makes pointless assertions that have no relevance to the argument at hand, and then block the debator, I count it as a win, so congratulations.
Hmmm well the holidays may vary depending on what path you follow the wheel of the year is basically an outline but for example the greco/roman festivals will not be the same as an egyptian pantheon follower ect who will have there own festivals.
"Pagan" communities are full of even more dumb than other religious communities (which is an expected problem when many of these 'religions' are only a few decades old and people are still mostly making stuff up as they go along.) The only 'pagan' communities that don't consistently make me angry or make me laugh are the ones dedicated to Norse gods but even those communities seem to be strangely full of Nazis (like actual National Socialists) for some reason.
The Nazi-Pagan connection makes sense because Nazism is all about loving and bonding with people/concepts of your own heritage, and loads of European Nazis express that by "going back" to their country's ancient Pagan religion. They think that newer religions are corrupted somehow, I guess. Or at least not as good as what their super-special master race people came up with back in the good old days.
Why is a discussion with a person who didn't want to take your opinion on the internet important enough to be bawwed out on the internet instead of taking it with a friend? I'm well aware that this is a forum and that I can choose to ignore it but since it has become so common I'm wondering how it works when, whenever there's a conflict, annoyance or problem of any kind, part of getting over it has to be to put it on the interwebz.
On topic: They have their idea of how things work and you have yours. They didn't want to bow to your infinite wisdom - get over it.
It's not 'infinite wisdom'. It's common fucking knowledge, as far as 'witches' go. It was like arguing whether Abraham Lincoln was a president or not. It's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of what simply is or isn't.
And they didn't want take what you had to say and in order to get over it, you put it on the internet. There will always be people like that. Not nearly enough of a big deal. Or are you used to only communicate with people who accept everything you say?
