I feel like video game concept art and comic books have just become this sad display of one-upmanship. I pity the idiots on this thread who are arguing with you, because it means they can't see why this is unhealthy for the art community at large.
It must be a disease or something, white-knighting. I fucking hate that kind of people. I just pointed out yesterday to this deviant: he made a poll offering 100 points to people who could guess how their deviation was made. Going to the deviation, you could download the .psd file with all the layers and adjustments for 20 points. So I told them "you know, someone might just act the smart cookie and go download that, then tell you and easily get 80 points more", because there's that bunch of slimy deviants who is just desperate for points. And I got this idiot replying to me that I don't need to be a dick and that deviant who submitted the poll is just being generous.
I agree, it is annoying when you direct a comment specifically at the artist and then someone else gets in the way and act like they can speak for the artist. >.<
I once commented on a piece because I didn't understand why the person who made it had drawn it the way it was (it seemed illogical to me). Someone completely unrelated came to me telling why it did make sense. I didn't agree with that person's arguments and told that person I actually was only interested in the artist's thoughts about it. Then the artist came to me, kind of agree that I had refused the other person.
Also, yes, it is even more annoying when people act like you are a horrible person when you tell them something negative about their work. Especially the people who have very very poor skills are sensitive about it, which makes it worse.
Well, I can see how your comment could be problematic. As in, sexualizing female characters in games in unrealistic ways is a branche thing, and pinning it down on one person could be considered provocative.
Yet, I still believe you aren't the one who was wrong here, especially since I think you've got a legitamite point and weren't extremely bashful about it. (Also it's a point that needs to be made and heard more! It's insulting to deal with female characters for games that way.)
It really just looks like a piece of military pin up art, which serves no other purpose that to be fapped on, and while I do admit that I like it, both in terms of art and fanservice...I agree that it's impractical. Being a piece of concept art...probably means that she might look like this in whatever she's going to be in, and if that's the case then she's not going to last very long out in the field...unless them tits are made of titanium XD
And just scrolling down I found this comment: "You've got talent, but that uniform is unrealistic. She appears to be dressed for cold weather. Cold weather does not tolerate exposed flesh. Exposed flesh will quickly turn black and break off."
ALSO, with her tits tucked away, she'd still probably die relatively fast. She has no armor of any sort, and camo pants would do a good job of hiding your tango primary(ya c wut i did thur) in the right environment, but not much else. Realistically, being oversexualized is the least of her problems.
*shrug* It's fan-service. Another little pin-up. I obviously can't take it seriously as a legitimate outfit or design, but then, I don't think we're supposed to.
For New Years, I was arranging receipts, old paystubs, and other various paperwork until about 8 PM. Then I drew this: Then I played Assassin's Creed III until midnight and went to bed because I have work today. Did I mention I'm the ONLY fucking person at work who was scheduled both New Years Eve AND New Years Day?
