ok, first the person responsible needs to be taken to a stretching board and have his arms and legs ripped from their sockets, and re-inserted the wrong way for good measure. next, put him on a table for some good old fashioned water torture until he/she cracks and tells you the real reason for doing that remake. only after this is done, should the person be let loose again (after being put back to the stretcher and having the limps dislocated and re-inserted properly.). the first picture was fine the way it was. the look on the face was not out of sadness, but of anger and buried hatred. trying to play it back in cartoony form takes away all of the needed emotion.
If he is trying to do a caricature then really going the wrong way with it but otherwise something is wrong with him. I remember that whole pretty girl and Frida Kahlo drama. It was a nightmare trying to write my final paper and not insult the heck out of him.
I thought the original photo of Sharbat Gula was beautiful. Steve McCurry does google plus times better than the guy who tried to make her "prettier" She had a hard life, and her emotions made the photo better. Even today under a flipping burqa her expressions are somewhat the same. This random tumblr guy decided to make her some ugly Disney-anime I don't know what even damsel in distress and what do you know! In the tags it even says Disney le gasps!
Pictures of resiliant, strong young women who are determined to fight through adversity are not interesting to straight white douchebag men. Instead, he'd rather put out a guide to "making female characters look pretty," beautifying Frida Kahlo and making the Afghan girl a doe-eyed Disney princess. Further proof that dickwads like this merely see women are there for visual pleasure, rather than acknowledging their personhood.

Is it just me that thinks the original girl is beautiful anyway? Dunno why the hell he though he'd make her look vulnerable. Does that girl look like she'd be vulnerable to you? She looks strong if you ask me.
It's like if he was to paint the vietnamese child looking vulnerable. [link] Does her expression look vulnerable at all? No. That's a look of suffering and pain. Wouldn't surprise me if he tried to do this and fucked up the emotions again.
That's what pisses me off about this. She's intense, raw and beautiful. She looks like she could plain kick my ass in 5 seconds flat. Yet he had the gall to mutate her into some creepy disney/anime-esque damsel in distress. What the actual fuck.
