One reason why I keep my mature filter turned on; I hate being scarred for life over poorly drawn hentai, half-nude shippings, nude models, rule 34 fan art, and flash-shots of people's less-than-holy body parts.
I do not see porn as an art form, but rather an unhealthy objectification of the human body, and prefer that smut out of my sight. I'm thankful for dA's mature filter, and so glad I don't have to rage over peoples' abnormal fetishes being flaunt on my screen in huuuuuge thumbnail format when I least expect it.
If people like that kind of thing, it's not my problem and I won't tell anyone what content they can't consume in their free time after work or school, but I'm not interested in that stuff at all, so I keep it obscured from my view. I'll stick to faving cute Vocaloid art or outer space paintings and hanging with friends; I don't need a random boner every five minutes sifting through my watchlist.
I honestly believe that anything can be artistic, however with most of the artistic nudes here I can't figure out what is so artistic about them, but then again I am not in the position to declare what is an artistic nude and what is not.
Honestly, I don't think dA is going to get rid of the artistic nudes, so just turn on your mature content filter on and do your best to ignore it all.
There's nothing artistic about boobs. there's nothing artistic about dicks there's nothing artistic about ponies. there's nothing artistic about wolves. there's nothing artistic about photography. there's nothing artistic about anime. there's nothing artistic about fanart. there's nothing artistic about game screenshots.
There's nothing artistic about a lot of things on this site. The half naked chicks do kinda start to get on my nerves after a while, but I'm more annoyed at things like video game screen shots and photos that belong on facebook or something and not here.
I agree. The only irl photos I upload are for my ID or have been my ID at one point. As for videogame screenshots, I really hate seeing things like someone just took a picture while they were playing Call of Duty. That's absolutely awful.
You know what I don't get? When people draw women in outfits so skimpy that you should see their nipples, but you don't. As in they did not even draw them. If your going to go that far anyway, why suddenly turn shy? It doesn't make sense.
I understand where you are coming from, but this is a public website, and a lot of people will have different opinions about what's "artistic" and because its all subjective, and their opinion is as good as yours.
THIS IS MY OPINION. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If the nudity is done artistically and not done to be blatant porn (like some gifs and people who posted above) then it's acceptable. If it's just to go "I have huge tits! look!" Then it should not be on a site for art. Most artists do not know how to give breasts decent accuracy, in fact they are rather tough to get correct with the gravity, weight and how they lay and shape on a body. Nudes do not have huge amounts of cleavage, only clothing or doing the whole arms pressing them together does that happen. Also making them proportional to the body they belong to. Unless you're into hentai anime/manga style (thus again, hentai = porn). The main thing behind any art is INTENT and EXECUTION.
Example: * A dim lit room or bath, some skin covered with silk, planned and posed correctly is art.
* Myspace-like photos with a phone camera for shits and giggles is porn, and really making yourself to look like an attention w###e.

lets all be open minded that not all people who join DeviantArt are old enough to understand the beauty of boobs. My little cousin don't get it either.. but I love the renaissance nude painting than the modern ones.. I do think that the traditional nude painting have some sort of respect for women than the modern ones..
There is nudity in art, has been for centuries. Yeah, I get what you say though. Taking a picture of yourself in the mirror or dirty bed at some angle imposed to flatter you to death...I never would think of it as art. You got people that say "everything is art". But if that's the case, nothing is art. A finely crafted vase is no more valuable than mlp inflation art badly drawn by a 44 yr old man, or another histrionic personality disorder spreading her legs in her bathroom. But, this is deviantart, hell. This is the internet. There is no boundary set for art, it's an arguement that will never be settled. I just ignore them.
