I felt like this should be a forum post. Title being: "People Need to Quit Ruining The Internet

:iconwandereranon:
WandererAnon Featured By Owner Dec 24, 2012
Why? Because there are better uses for bandwidth than to post your retarded, down-syndrome like scribbles relating to sonic, furries, or "porn" on the internet. Here's are some better uses: like communicating through a chat or web-camera, doing research (as either an act of curiosity or for education that relates to science, literature, math, history, art, etc.), creating drama, or posting original content that people would actually LIKE, shopping, posting content that people can actually learn off of, reading the news (real news articles), posting the news (Journalism ties are required), and even watching or reading fine content (which can relate to netflix or to some other site that holds original content).

What ruins the internet is posting garbage content that looks like the musings of a five year old or that of a depraved individual, spitting out inaccuracies, logical fallacies, and overused content that's been watered down to the point of depravity, loss of originality, and loss of high-culture. A 'meme' can easily be described to be what can be full of win when the idea or 'phrase' became apparent. At the same time a 'meme' can easily be turn into garbage within a minute.

Doing memes as as an art-form or as a way to be instant cool is like saying that you watch porn for the "art" of it or hetalia as a historical substitute. All of it is equally retarded. Regurgitating content just makes you into a loser that wants attention from their peers. Now if you want to be apart of something, do something that's good for the internet; then the first thing that you should do is to delete your display, anything with your actual name or a way for others to find you online. Delete it. Everything. And then take your time to make something or do something that's worth that drop of bandwidth that people are paying for with their time and currency.

Why? Because of mainly two reasons.

The first is the need for anonymity. Anyone can easily waltz onto your account during an argument or some shit and pick you apart like a crow to a corpse because of your activities online. If you wrote a fan-fiction about Naruto or something similar, they're going to think that you're a fetishist or some weeaboo with no special talents or abilities based on the poor quality of the work. They can read every single conversation, including your little arguments that you have with people that can and will win against you if they happen to have a position that's more supported that yours. One can easily make their judgement on you and learn A LOT about you based on your activities online. So to defend yourself, delete or privatize everything you do on the net.

The second reason is to start over again, fresh and new. With a new username and alias, one can easily start again, make new friends, and post content of a better quality just so that one can actually have a better first impression of you. Oh, and when you do post better content, people will like that better than some half-retarded slash-flick, "Original Character", "Fan Character", fan-fiction, recolors, bases, adoptable recolors, fallacies, rants, reviews, and misinformation. Original content, meaning coming up with something original and then using a medium to process that idea or concept into something that can be read, watched, viewed, or played with as a means of communication and expression of an idea or concept, is something that is highly valued and should always be posted on the internet as a source of information.

So know that every time that you're posting that recolor or your mary-sue animu 'original chracter' for that slash-flick that you're writing to go along with it, just know that you're one out of millions of idiots that are chipping away gigabytes of bandwidth and wasting millions of dollars of people's hard earned cash to run that website for you own retarded musings that only a 5 year old would do to their own ignorance. Ruining the internet in turn.

It just means the majority of people that use the internet care more about really stupid and pointless crap than actually using it for academic, research and generally more sensible usage of it. =S

You're not going to get here on dA as the majority of the site is mostly teenagers. I've technicaly been here for 9 years and not much has changed. If you want a sensible art site, go to ConceptArt.org. =S

Hey... The majority of my art is worse than a five year old!

I do this for a hobby good sir, a low priority hobby at that! So I'll just take my musings of my five year old talent and see myself out!

Anytime, I'm just glad to know that even though the subjects are within the areas of fandom and memes of internet culture. All of those knitted plushies all made with such superior craftsmanship. This is something that you'd RARELY see on the internet.

So, with enough creativity, talent, and effort, you can make something new and revitalized from even a tired subject or internet meme.

It's funny how the people who complain loudest and most aggressively about how dA should have quality control either have no art posted or their stuff is subpar.

Well sure, that's something that I should also keep in mind. I should also stress that some people aren't as dedicated and as talented as you are. To some, they think you can shit on a piece of paper and call it 'a art'- and that disappoints me. :P

Ah, but I'm not one to argue that the Internet should be censored in any manner. Once you start controlling for quality, it's a slippery slope to controlling for things like unorthodox opinions.

Anything can get 'tied' to a slippery slope- and it's done through your usual, run of the mill, logical fallacy.

If people started setting standards for what people can post on the internet and what they can post, that would be opening a can of worms in the form of oppression. The internet is a platform for people to express themselves. Yeah, a lot of what is expressed is nonsense, but there is also an open form to say things that you usually wouldn't be able to say that needs to be said. I don't find freedom of expression, no matter how much "stupid" people have access to it, a waste of money. It's a priceless luxury to me.

Whenever there were mods and admins, then standards would be set. We've seen this in almost every other forum in a sense. Hell, some of them would constantly wield the banhammer just for good fun until they themselves get banned.

It becomes chaos, but standards to help generate better content. Then again, knowing that every human has a right to free speech and the like, it may not be so. If anything this is just a rant.
