Pixar's 'Planes' Going Theatrical (No, SERIOUSLY!!!)

:iconfullmetal-animator:

Forget the world ending. I think this is truely the end of Pixar's golden credibility.

Ok, so they kind of did that with Cars 2 last year anyway, but this? Pixar have always put story telling first and have been consistently ground breaking with it, but here they're just milking out a concept that wasn't that appealing or made a world of sense to begin with in the first place and slapping a new name on it.

First, talking cars. And now you're making talking planes? What the hell happened to the Pixar of day and old? That awesome studio that put original ideas first instead of milking out commercialism? Did that die out along with Steve Jobs? :stare:

Come back, awesome Pixar!

Notice the word "Disney" in there. Pixar's Yoko Ono.

So wait this movie is not done by Pixar
but is a spin of Pixar's Cars?

:iconiseewhatyoudidthere: SO basically Disney is using Pixar's name to sell a crappy product.

Oh noes! Pixar is expanding upon a popular and successful franchise! How dare they try to make money!!!
Don't they know that you can't milk the popular for years?! I mean, just LOOK at how horribly it turned out when a studio made repeated sequels/spinoffs of stuff like the Madden games, or the Call of Duty series or even The Land Before Time!

It's not really a Pixar movie, it's just put under the Pixar label for money-drilling purposes. It's like Brave, which was also a shit movie.

I don't actually think Pixar has much to do with this movie. I only saw Disney in the trailer with no mention of Pixar, just "in a world above cars".

It's just a cash-in to sell more toys... I'll be skipping this one for sure.

That's the problem when you have shareholders who demand more return on their investment.

That's the sad truth. But at least they're selling toys that children love.

Then again, the video game tie in to Wreck it Ralph (which was an AMAZING movie, in my opinion) looks completely stupid. They can't even get basic platforming right.

Well Cars was funny at least, I didn't think it was a bad movie. What's the big deal? At least it will be funny and they will make money.

Seem's more like a parody on top gun [a la hotshots] but animated & for kids.
Can't see me loving it, much like i didn't care for Cars, but at least it's not directly cars 3
I would probably have liked it when i was young so hey more power to them.
Money from this might go towards original like 'Up' or 'Brave'

I don't really see the big deal since Cars seems to have been a very financially successful movie based on the merchandise I have seen pretty much everywhere I've ever been. Planes are cool, if I was a kid I might watch it, and I'm sure they're trying to target the young male audience.

Dude. The fact that Cars was successful on the merchandising and toy sales is the reason that it's viewed as a major cash in instead of a love of film making.

Of course it's a major cash in. So? Not every Pixar movie has to become a classic. Everything is, in the end, about making money.

I'm still hoping his future cause of death is "hit by a tow truck", just so I can FINALLY get some enjoyment out of that idiot for irony reasons alone.

Seriously, pushing that moron was the real loss of Pixar's credibility.

She makes animations with her fursona loving him. And she "jokingly" asks if he can give her "other body fluids", hence of talking about spit.

She's a wolf drawer BTW.

All I can think of when I hear about this is that weird children's show about talking planes. Jay Jay the Jet plane I think it was called.

Basically this

Now there is no secrecy about it, so I will have to listen to people moaning about it. Darn. Silly cartoony things entertain me.

Disney thought this up in a meeting and the idea started with the letter "merchandise". It's apparently really easy to slap eyes on a car and package it because they still sell these toys. I can see Pixar going along with Disney's insanity from time to time if that allows them to make great movies the rest of the time.

Also, I thought the plane models looked really good right until they sprouted mouths and eyes. I went along with it for Cars but it doesn't seem to work as well to me with fighter jets. Perhaps the faces could have been less "human-like": I'm not sure what it is, exactly.
