Oh noes! Pixar is expanding upon a popular and successful franchise! How dare they try to make money!!! Don't they know that you can't milk the popular for years?! I mean, just LOOK at how horribly it turned out when a studio made repeated sequels/spinoffs of stuff like the Madden games, or the Call of Duty series or even The Land Before Time!
Seem's more like a parody on top gun [a la hotshots] but animated & for kids. Can't see me loving it, much like i didn't care for Cars, but at least it's not directly cars 3 I would probably have liked it when i was young so hey more power to them. Money from this might go towards original like 'Up' or 'Brave'
I don't really see the big deal since Cars seems to have been a very financially successful movie based on the merchandise I have seen pretty much everywhere I've ever been. Planes are cool, if I was a kid I might watch it, and I'm sure they're trying to target the young male audience.
Why? I was merely looking forward to purchasing it on DVD and watching it in secret. Now there is no secrecy about it, so I will have to listen to people moaning about it. Darn. Silly cartoony things entertain me.
personally i think this movie is gonna be awesome, i just hope it can be a little more serious than Cars (and the sequel) i'll watch it...and chances are i'll love it simply cuz of the anthromorphic planes
Disney thought this up in a meeting and the idea started with the letter "merchandise". It's apparently really easy to slap eyes on a car and package it because they still sell these toys. I can see Pixar going along with Disney's insanity from time to time if that allows them to make great movies the rest of the time.
Also, I thought the plane models looked really good right until they sprouted mouths and eyes. I went along with it for Cars but it doesn't seem to work as well to me with fighter jets. Perhaps the faces could have been less "human-like": I'm not sure what it is, exactly.
