Oh baaww! TV shows offend people.

My parents saw me watching some show called Snapped and freaked out. It was kind of like a police report of how some girl started dating this older dude but their parents opposed, so they killed them to be together.

They started yelling at me to change it because it was disgusting and offensive. Seriously, it's rated PG and they're so upset by it. My Dad claims it'll give me nightmares.

I'm an adult, this show is informative and gets the brain working, unlike most things I watch. They even tell me I'm watching stupid things when I watch stuff like Family Guy, South Park, etc. Do they just not want me to watch TV!? I don't even know, when I watch shows, they're either like 'That's offensive!' or 'You're too smart to be watching this.'

They only don't object when I watch things they like and if I do that, they won't shut up while I'm trying to watch it. :iconwtfboomplz:

((I just went in my room without finishing it by the way, I wasn't really into the show. I just find it ridiculous how I'm not allowed to watch a rated PG show.))

Tl;dr: Baaww parents are offended by my TV shows.

Ohhh, I love Snapped.

Still not as good as Special Victims Unit, though.

Ohhh, I love that show! I watch it all the time.
Homicide fascinates me.

It's a shame you can't enjoy your shows though...
I get the same crap from my mum from time to time.
And to be blunt, she can be more offensive than the damn show I'm watching.

Watch Penn & Teller: Bullshit. Let's see how they react to the circumcision or war on porn episodes.

And if you're going to watch purposely-shitty cartoons, at least watch Drawn Together. At least that one knows how to get down n' dirty without being preachy about some sociocultural bullshit.

I used to watch South Park and Tosh.0 every now and then (I grew out of it) and my mom would get upset because of their vulgarity.

Then she took me and my sister to go see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with her. :smoking: Shit, I wish I'd looked up what was in that movie before I agreed to go see it.

Well are you paying the bill? Unless you are, they can say whatever they please, whether you like it or not.

If you don't want to hear their opinion, move out or get a job and pay the bill. So if they start complaining say "I pay the bill, I can watch what I want"

Your parents aren't morons, they just speak their mind. If my kid was an adult they still wouldn't watch what they wanted unless they put money into the bill.

Get a job and contribute and stop complaining about it on the internet.

See, I don't watch TV, because most of it is filled with misinformation that adds to the stigmatization of social, political, and racial minorities. But that's just me.

The difference is I can circumvent all that nasty crap and actually give my opinion on the internet. I'd actually have to go to the internet to give my opinion on all the shitty tv.

I swear, this sounds exactly like my grandmother.

I can personally care less about what anyone say about what I watch or play, although I can understand why they'd be offended in the first place.

I'm curious, exactly what were you watching?

...I meant children younger than 13.

If the youngest is 17, then what airs on television should be no concern to your parents, as long as no one is stupid enough to attempt anything they see on it.

When I was 11 my parents said I couldn't watch the Simpsons because there was an episode where Santa's Little Helper ate a bug and it was too gross.
Earlier, I was also not allowed to watch Jem because she had pink hair and was a bad role model.

Sadly, despite their best efforts, I grew up to be outrageous.

I always felt bad for the bug he ate. It looked so sad and lonely, then, bye-bye, bug.

But that's okay. Santa's Little Helper got his when Lard Lad kicked him across town! HAHAHAHAA!

I guess I got lucky with my parents. They allowed me to watch south park when I was about 11. The worst thing I've ever watched was Super Jail on Adult Swim. Or maybe Forensic Files since it discusses the worst of humanity. And my favorite shows include American Dad, South Park and the uncut DBZ back in it's Toonami prime while me and my parents enjoy The Walking Dead.

As a quote from future Timmy from FOP:
"Now that show I remember. It was violent and stupid. Which is why I watched it every day."

But I hear ya. I have many friends who are belittled by their parents about what they can and cant watch. Back when one of my friends was a kid, his step dad strictly allowed him to only be able to watch the Disney channel. And since his mom is highly religiousn, she wouldnt argue against it.

Both your mother and father find it disgusting and offensive?

If that is the case, you're outnumbered there, especially if you live in their house and it's their TV. You can get your own, move out, etc.

Often you can watch stuff online.

Having said that, it is pretty silly. :B

Yeah, I should just watch this stuff online. :v It's weird though, I wasn't originally watching it, I just exited out of the DVR and that's what channel it was on, then I became interested in the case. I wasn't even planning on watching the whole episode anyway.

It really is.
