Mediocrity

I have to apply to the illustration program by tomorrow night. I miscalculated my portfolio big time. Now I have to include more mediocre works to get all my pieces in.

I don't know what to include that won't make me look like a loser! I swear my color choices have improved!

If I were focusing on concepts, doing something gross like that would be entertaining.

I'd say it's a matter of what you think they will judge you on. A few great pieces with a few crappy could be better than someone with a mediocre portfolio through and through, but if they favor someone with a more stable one you're screwed.
You just have to make the call. What did your portfolio look like the last time? You have one thing on your side, and that is that you can show improvement from the last time. Try to empazise that and it might work out.
