Camwhores

When I browse dA, I expect to see ARTWORK, not random photos of people posing. Photo after photo of people just staring into the camera, or looking dramatically into the distance.
I mean, anyone can stand next to a tree and pose. That doesn't make it ART. There's no thought placed into the photo, no expression.

Randomly posting photos of yourself and then wondering why people don't notice your photos is another thing that bothers me. Leave photo sharing for social networking sites like Facebook. Your facebook friends are more likely to appreciate it than we would - after all, most of us don't know you personally, so what do we care if we see you standing next to the Eiffel Tower? Some big achievement that is.

Bonus complaint: why does dA allow so many groups dedicated to porn? How is that "art"? I understand artistic nude, but dA is no place for porn.

Like we've never seen this complaint before.

Art is different to everyone, I like oil painting with volume and such. Yes it does get annoying sometimes but thats photography. I know we all want to see art such as digital, Magana/Anime and sometimes traditional but we can't have it our way. Trust me I would have alot more MLP oil painting in my favorites.

Unoriginal thread is unoriginal. :iconpelvicthrustplz:

Hmm let's go ahead and get all of the arguments out of the way:

If they think it's art than it is art since it's no one's place to define art since it has a different meaning to everyone, kinda like happiness or virtue.

This has already been beaten into the ground so there's really no point in complaining about it.

The line between porn and artistic nudity is very thin and in an extreme grey area, which may be part of the reason there is so much of porn.

dA is on the internet.

Thus, I conclude that dA is a place for porn.

I'm not even going to look at your gallery, because I know what I'd see if I do.

Anyone can also draw a picture of someone standing next to a tree, staring into the distance, and it gets called art. What's the difference?

As for the "porn" thing, if you don't like it, don't look at it. It's that simple.

True, but it takes talent to draw well. Whereas, anyone can take out a camera and just take photos of what they see.

There are plenty of websites for people to post their porn - they should use those instead is all I'm saying.

Okay, you get a camera and take some photos as good as that.

Yeah, it's more than pointing a camera and pressing a button.

Those photos are different. They actually have thought in them, and the photographer knows exactly what they want.
I'm talking more like these:

These types of photos belong on Facebook or some other social networking site, for you to share with your friends and family, who would appreciate them in a better way than we would.

Actually, to be fair, that first one is a fine example of portraiture. It's simple, it works well, and even if there was no thought into it it still worked out. It could do with some work on it but it's fine as it is. The latter not so much. In fact, half of that deviant's work seems to have been thought out, or has been captured in the moment. See [link], a good use of angle and expression. Granted the other half seems to be staring into the camera, but there's still effort in the rest of their art.

In regards to your complaint, I noticed that you seem to have 'The Sims' screen-caps in your gallery, as well as some not-so-good photos. This is the very thing you seem to be hating on. It happens, this is a free site for posting Sonic OCs and your latest duck-face-mirror-iPhone-shot. Just stick to artists you like, and stay off the random artwork and newest today buttons.

As for the porn, welcome to dA.

No, what I hate are pictures of people posing for the camera when those photos belong on Facebook.
