One Point Five Gigabits...
...is too damn slow.
See, the hard drive I was using was a 7200 SATA II with a speed of 3.0Gbit/sec. However, it's approaching the end of its usable life. So two nights ago I took it out. I replaced it with the hard drive from one of my mom's old laptops. However, it has a rotational speed of 5400RPM and a read/write speed of 1.5Gbit/sec. So while it's going to last a long time (it'll work for months into the future if not longer), it is so ungodly slow that programs will actually skip or freeze momentarily as other programs are loading.
I want an SSD, dammit...

Put your old one back in until it dies?
The point is to limit the use of my old one so it doesn't die.
What's the point in making it live longer if you're not going to use it?
Contingency planning?
For what possible contingent?
In the event that I need something specific off that drive.
That's why you put it on an external...

Yeah...I have never noticed the difference between a 5400 RPM and a 7200 RPM. At least, not compared to a SSD or just getting rid of crap.
Boots up faster.

OK, to put it simply, the hard drive I'm using now is half as fast as my old one. Therefore, things are SLOWWWWWWWW.
Computer stuff. I fail to see the problem here.
That reminds me I should install that SSD I have lying around.
What capacity and how much was it?
512 GB, 433 Euros.
That would be close to $600USD. That's why I don't have one.
The prices have dropped, though. I can get one with about the same capacity for much less, now.
